Champions School of Real Estate. You can take the courses online. Any of the locations that are convenient to you are good. Great school!

Joni Bailey has a great suggestion. But why are you planning to do this? Are you planning to effectively manage real estate business in both states? Why does this make sense for your business? Just a thought!

I'm in Texas a lot (was just there for 8 days and have another 10 day trip in January)- Mom lives there. But I think in retrospect I'll just do referrals and collect a fee which makes the most sense. I just thought it would be good to study for something and I don't have enough time under my belt to get my CA Broker's License just yet. Thanks everyone!

Best of luck on your business expansion. It has been over 30 years since I lived in Houston, so I am no help.

Unless you are considering a relocation, not sure it is the way to go!

Not sure why you would want to jump states and not do an adjacent state - but hey, best of luck with that

I kind of get having a license to an adjacent state. I have both an NC and SC license as Charlotte is on the border of the two states, but I don't have a Tennessee or Virginia license because those are hours aways from me. It seems Texas and California are even more far apart. How are you going to manage business in two states so different and so far apart?

I am afraid I don't know the answer but I will be watching to see who does :-)

I would go with what Joni Bailey says, she knows the agents in the area.

Annie, at one point I was planning a move to Texas and got my brokers' license there. I was stunned at the number of hours it took! If TheCEShop might be your best bet.

Good luck. Hopefully some of the Houston area members will be able to help you.

It looks from the comments that you have this figured out ... refer the business.
