You can have your settings on your business page be set to allow you to moderate the post. That way you decide who gets to post something, or rather when it shows on the timeline.

I would say if it's on there, defend it head on but stay calm. Evidently that person picked up a few friends or trolls to help with the hysteria.
I'm going to change my settings today like Michael & Candice suggested.

It will definitely happen if you use social media long enough. Hopefully that one rotten apple is offset by a bushel of satisfied reviews by past clients.

Does your favorite repair shop run advertising with a "comments" space for negative people? Same concept...control the content, control the medium...

Michael Thacker - Re/Max Real Estate Center - Louisville's got the right idea here.
I don't feel a Facebook Page should be an automatic. It's important to know where your ideal clients "hang out" and then build your social platform there. Then, it's all about building relationships. Not just having a "Page" for the sake of having a "Page" (or a Twitter account, Snapchat, etc.)

Dennis,
We have the comments turned off on our site. There are so many coo-coo people out there, and we do not participate on FB except to add posts every so often. A

You can manage and edit your page, however, when someone goes on a rant, others often see the post for what it is, just a rant. None of us want negative comments on our page.

It is not how one behaves when thing go well that is their measure but when things go Ka-plewy.
In social media, there is no middle ground, You are either for or the enemy of the interests of others. The resulting vitrial burns.
Respond at a higher level, being the best version of yourself.
Then, as others stated, don't allow everyone a 'FREE' soapbox.
However, you can paraphrase and anonymize comments received as critical. Use them to demonstrate life is not a bowl of strawberries, stuff happens and you have sufficient fabric and dimension to reach a property outcome.

Make sure you are not added to the post. Only you can allow them to do so. Anyone can rant on Yelp, Trulia, Zillow, Redfin. It's been going on forever and it's called freedom of speech.

I turned off ratings and have never allowed anyone to post to the wall. I control the message. From the response on a similar Q from a week or so ago, if you disable the ratings your bad one (and all of them) will go away.

Dennis Swartz - Your page is your page - and you should control what goes on it!
No rants for sure.
3,988,013
That is generally the case. One ranter attracts other ranters and it spins out of control.

As long it is on your fb page, you have the power to moderate the comments. The yelp and google reviews are another story.

Change your settings and stay on top of comments. I see this often on pages for small local businesses. People get mad and negative remarks come from everyone. Delete or reply calmly - never would I get into a battle online.

Unfortunately these things happen. I've had it happen to me on G+. Either change settings ... delete the comments ... or respond with a clam, clear head.

Manage your settings where you would have to approve the post.. if not that, then delete it. Look at the bigger picture, having a presence on the internet can only be a good thing for your business..

It is your page, you own it and you have control of what remains on your page. Change your settings and I would hide it from your timeline immediately. Then, I would calmly discuss the issues on PM.
