Yes, my lockboxes are set on the default. Basically, they won't allow access any time after dark. If someone needs to get in after dark, I can override the times set on that lockbox.

Most agents in our area just leave the lock box hours on the default. If I have a late showing I get the key early with the listing agents permission...

I think our default is 9 or 10pm.  8:30pm does seem early for a vacant house. I usually call if I am showing past 8 though because I am always afraid of showing up to a timed access lockbox.  In the winter it gets dark here around 4-5pm too. Many agents have no idea there is even timed access on it or how to change it.  Sorry that happened!  Bummer.

We used to use the Supra lockboxes and now went back to using regular lockboxes.  Winters here are just too cold and it does not fair well for the Supras.  We have a number of agents still using it, and I don't believe they have a restriction on vacant properties.

I had it in default mode. My single lady seller was waken up SAT at 8 AM. Who the heck wants to view?  I apologize and told her to put it out when she wants visitors. 

Inna that stays with Supra programs.  My problem this year is where are the buyers?   I am the soul person on the system for a week now.  Very few sellers and not active market as the home price is out of control....

Oh, that stinks, Inna Ivchenko!  Our boxes are auto-set for 9AM - 9PM.  So few of our listings are vacant that I just leave the Supras at those settings, regardless of the home's occupancy.

I'm sure there is a way to override that. Call the listing agent or their office and have them allow you access??  Our electronic lockboxes are usually set for a one hour time frame but can be adjusted if necessary.

I program my lockboxes an hour earlier than the default for occupied homes and an hour later for vacant homes. There are lots of agents who prefer to show vacant homes and the easier we make it for them, the more activity we receive.

I believe our mls sets certain hours for the keys to work and we have a bit of leeway to shorten them or lengthen them... but not for 24 hour access.

Ugh. I ran into this in the morning. I needed to open a unit, I think at 8:30am and it wouldn't open for the same reason. I contacted the listing agent and she couldn't figure out how to change the time constraints.  Very frustrating.

I change the default time setting based on the particular listing.  When I'm showing clients after the "typical" times, I will contact the listing agent to verify I am able to access.

We used to use Supra in San Diego County but they upgraded us in 2007 to SentriLock and yes they by default have limited showing hours 7-7 which are customizable and I do occasionally change them to tighter times for occupied listings.

I do not time vacant properties. If the agent needs to show the property at 5 am or 9 pm, since this is when their clients are available, I want them to get in.

By default they are restricted to that time window, at least the boxes I have are.  Definitely wasn't anything we setup.  There is a way to remotely update it, or so it seems.  I haven't tried it though.  Too easy to forget that a lockbox is setup different.

Why would anyone restrict the time to show vacant properties? This is doing a disservice to the seller - and obvioulsy kept a potential buyer from seeing the condo in your case, Inna Ivchenko.

     If the electric power to the house has been cut off, the lockbox is set from 7AM to 9PM.  Nobody needs to be in there after dark.  I state the time in the MLS remarks section.

We don't advertise that a home is vacant because there were a string of breaks in a few years back.  That's when we changed how we did things.  Agents must get the alarm code before they enter.

I usually don't restrict vacant property. I do hire CSS to keep track of the appointment and supra can keep track of who's in and out at what time. Did you call or text the listing agent?
