Those laws are only designed to harm honest businesses.

Politicians, non profits and other crooks are immune to these laws.

I don't know but it certainly seems so. 

I think a big part of the problem is how hard is it to turn someone in.

It has always been our understanding that the do not call law applies to private parties.  As a business, we all can be called.  We have a live answering service that connect us with real calls. That eliminates those robo calls, except for those who call one number after another and get our cell phones.  A

Same here, Paul. My phone automatically blocks many of these, but it's really gotten out of hand recently.

I was wondering about the same thing.

We get these calls also on house and cell phones. The "do not call" list is pretty much ignored by many.

LOL I was wondering the same thing yesterday.  I market 3 on my phone as spam yesterday.

Not to my knowledge but I think it applies to private parties. Not sure it really does any good.

I block and move on.

I get them daily.  I block the number - they just call from another.

You can go to the donotcall.gov and report the company that called you, they can be fine up to $16,000.00 per call.

I love my iPhone. I do have more 'blocked' numbers than legitimate ones.

I wish it would work better than it does now.

I probably got 3 yesterday, as with most days.  It's certainly annoying.

My phone rings off the hook with these calls, seemingly same companies changing their numbers they call from. I was reporting all of them but as it is not doing any good, i just block the numbers on my phone. If i am alone n the car and bored, often i have some fun with the callers.

It is against the law here Paul, and I am on the "do not call" register, but I too continue to receive calls daily.  The problem is, these companies are now located offshore with untraceable numbers...

The laws still exist. However, they have become filled with exceptions.

Here is much of the problem as I observe it in the Tampa Bay Area.

Based on agent behavior on AR, some express great distress at being compelled to click a link, I can imagine them also unwilling to listen to the call to the end where pressing  #1 or #2 will remove them from the call list.

Which, by the way, is the requirement of the law. I no longer get 'student loan' relief calls, debt consolidation calls, but those of the PETA persuasion are relentless in the guises they use.

You have to keep renewing your registration, but you'll probably still get calls.

I have not heard of any expiry of this law in our great nation.

They always find ways around it I have received inbound calls showing my OWN phone number as the CALLER LOL

I too get many a day and sure does seem like it does not matter anymore! 

I don't know what the deal is. My phone is blowing up too!

They keep finding new ways to skirt the law.

Like Peter Testa said, I am starting to get a lot more texts too, not just calls. It's a good reminder of how we should act/be with phone calls and following the law ourselves as well.

I believe it is so hard to manage that there is no way to be completely free from getting these calls. I have been blocking them for a year and now don't get more than one a day.

Do not call lists never did slow down the calls

I think there are a lot of loopholes, and many of these companies rely on the fact that it takes effort to file a lawsuit (and you've got to find them first), so they break the rules hoping no one goes through the effort of calling them on it

I too receive several solicitation calls a day on my cell even though I've enrolled on the "do not call list" several times over.

It has not sunsetted, but it is only sparsely enforced.  The FCC does not have the money to enforce it (per their own statement) against everyone.  They can only pursue 20-30 cases per year, so they choose to pursue only the big fish like pharmaceutical sales, stock fraud, etc.  The likelihood of the "Attention Business Owners" robo call that rang me at 930 this morning ever being prosecuted is nil.  I submitted a complaint against ADT and was given the brush off by the FCC in response.

In addition, the law was written with many loopholes such as "prior business relationship" or "conducting a survey" which allowed people with half a brain to be able to get around the law.  "When we talked last month" is a popular start to calls I get now.  Real Estate coaches used to teach "I'm conducting a real estate survey" as the start of their scripts.

The "law" is a joke. I get 5 calls on average a day. ALL of my numbers are on the registry.  And what about all of the political email spam that just wont stop. Even more now with the administration.  No way to unsubscribe ... they just keep sending their crap!

That is what triggers the do not call. I doubt it stays that long. I am sure Donald's hot line gets it all the time also.

I get calls constantly and repeatedly from website & SEO companies that I have to block.

I just saw an ad for attorneys on tv that said they represent people who are getting unwanted calls from creditors and that it is a $1500 fine. So someone must be making money off of unwanted calls.

If one is adept at the exceptions, it becomes a numbers game! Actually, if you know the rules, the list can be a source of phone numbers to call!

I'll never understand what kind of sales are generated by making ice-cold-calls. I also noticed spammers will text you from an email address, rather than a phone #, making it pretty hard to block the messages.
