It would be easier to pick the door lock, or pry open a window, then to get into a Supra box.

Combo box can be picked with two pieces of metal.

Hell, I had a box get stuck and we couldn't get it off with huge bolt cutters. One, we had a guy drill through with a 3/4 inch bit! They are practically indestructible. NOW, having said that . . . it all depends what they are affixed to.

Not sentrilocks. I suppose if you have a sawz-all it would take it out but then the neighbors would hear you hacking the front door down.

Lock boxs aren't meant to keep burglars out. Anyone can force a door open with or without a lockbox on it. Yes, lockboxes can be pryed or cut open to remove keys if you have the right tools.

Very few houses are actually difficult to break into. Not sure this story is a significant case for concern. However, clearly vacant houses have long been a target and that is somethting everyone in our field should think about.

In my experience, they are not easy to break into. Once MLS told me to cut one off  on a listing since it got "locked" and became unresponsive. My husband had to use huge clippers to get one off. Don't know if it could be hacked into electronically.

Anyone with a sniffer within proper distance AND a iPhone can open a Supra.

Like all problems, if you know the answer, they are easy.

By the way, the same technology can record your key remote and the thief can open and drive away with your keyless car.

We are still old school in my area. Many years ago I did have an LB breached. That vacant house was moved into by squattors. They were all eventually arrested due to my diligence in checking the remote house for my client each week. We really don't have a problem in my area.

I can see how this could be done.  I don't know the communications technology between the Supra boxes and the physical key, but the bluetooth communications method between the Supra and the eKey on the phones can be read from quite a distance (with the right tech).  Then the communication could be examined and hacked.  Might be able to get away with a simple replay attack like they do with car doors.

This all requires a dedicated thief who is seriously technically inclined.  Most will either get lucky that an agent didn't properly seat the box into the Supra or just do a standard B&E.
