Steven Nickens - That is a problem with the point system here on AR. I started my 1st account with only California content but then when I also became a real estate broker in Hawaii, it became confusing to agents here on AR, they kept asking me "where are you now? are you now in Hawaii or California?" So I shifted my account to Honolulu with all the points. I then added a 2nd account for California STARTING FROM SCRATCH AND $$ EVERY MONTH AGAIN. I'm still not back at 500,000 and a free account. Per Activerain instructions, I keep the content totally separate, no duplication of content, no cross linking from one account to the other. One has strictly Hawaii content, this one strictly California.

Ok maybe I need to just get over it. When you go to Maui on AR, I enjoyed the #2 position. It's kind of like in the line up surfing. You just don't paddle out to the front of the pack and start grabbing waves, the locals will let you know real quick. Does it change anything not really, but I have maintained that position for awhile and was surprised to get bumped that's all.

My sense is that Bob Crane has a good suggestion ... reach out to Ralph. I noticed the other day he is licensed in CA and HI. Seems that it would be best to have two profiles like Hella M. Rothwell, Broker/Realtor®

I definitely can understand why you would feel it wasn't. He accumulated all those points through hard work on this site. I don't think the points should disappear just because he moved locations. I also understand that you worked hard to get to #2, so it stinks for you to be moved down also. I'm not sure there is a fair solution in these cases, unless you do it like baseball and put an asterisk next to his point total!

The easy solution is to earn more points. Consumers do not care.

That explains a LOT! I thought I had 3-4 months to go before I had enough points to move up to spot #50 in California and make that first page! Was dumfounded when it happened in 2 weeks.
It's unfortunate when a high point value person moves and you lose your spot. That's the way the system works though, points are not tied to a specific area (and what a nightmare for the admins if they were!)

Being the curious type of person that I am, I checked out his profile page. It does say Southern Ca and Maui agent. So your only option is to blog, blog and start recruiting tons of agents to AR.

He can move & his stuff/profile/points goes with him. It could be a mistake also with all the updating going on.

all's fair in love and war.... if that agent has maui as her marketplace, he can write blog posts about Franklin MA and that's acceptable.... that agent picks the topic...

Steven,
We could all make up stories about this one, and I think Bob Crane 's is the best. Perhaps, this person also sells in Maui. There are a few California agents who have licenses in both states. A

Maybe it is a mistake on his profile, could be he has the wrong market area selected as his primary.
Or he may be planning a move to the islands, maybe you could sell him a home and hire him.

I think Hella's approach is a good one for this situation for the other agent. It's unfortunately the way the point system works here. I'm not sure how much of a difference it will ultimately make if you continue to write and share great content, here and on social media sites. People will see you know Maui

I would be curious as to if he/she moved to Maui. If I move I sure hope my points come with me Steven Nickens but if I just claim another location and I'm still living in ND and blogging about ND that would not be right.

Steven well after reading the comments it looks like this can happen anywhere. And I like what Hella M. Rothwell, Broker/Realtor® did to make it less confusing for us and others to know where she was and what she was writing about. Give the guy a call and work it out?

A big concern for sure - so I prefer to look at the 'All states' ranking only....lol!

It can happen as it did with you. The new number 2 may well be selling in making a presence in Maui or not. I don't think many peopel will choose an agent based on 2 being better than 3 on the leaderboard in you area. I can see why it would bum you out. It would do that to me, too.

I'd be frustrated too.
A member did that to me recently, moved his office to La Jolla and boom, suddenly he's La Jolla after 8 years of not being in there with me. But, that's my ego, not anything the public sees or cares about-it's just an AR thing.
It's their right to choose where they post, maybe he's moving to Maui? Maybe it's in error and you are doing him a favor by calling him?
Call, as Bob suggested and sort it out, but be graceful. After all the public doesn't know our ranking.

I have seen this happen too, when relocating. Hella does do business in both locations, I can see the confusion.

I'm so sorry, Steven Nickens - but, if you're the consumer, you don't even seen that page - one would find you searching for Maui articles and land on YOUR page because you've built up your SEO. Sorry for the run-on sentence! LOL
