I think there is enough rating and judging the world today.  Perhaps too much. An up-vote is a rating system of sorts.  Unless voting was closed it will always be a moving target. People leave comments to comments as well. That creates engagement which is why we are here.  At least that is why I am here.  

That is what I use the Upvote button for (aka like button). The more upvotes someone gets the best or funniest answer.  I think it works out ok.  Don't make me think so much with the 1 to 10 stuff.

I may be a good idea if people would use it? I wouldn't have the time. I read, answer, review other answers and move on; typically in that order. I'm glad the points and featured posts are done my the AR gods, I wouldn't have time typically.

We do rate--when we upvote.

When you Upvote for some Else's response they do get 10 points.

I think being acknowledged is always good for a person.

I actually thought something similar at one point.  I thought maybe it would be nice for the one person with the most upvotes to get a bonus 10 points or something, just as an incentive to write a quality thought out answer.  I'm not sure if people would take the extra step to rate, but people do vote with their upvotes already. -Kasey

I like it. Perhaps it would cut down on the non answers that are made for points only. Clutters the thread.  

Not terribly interested.... don't need to spend more time on AR with trivia.

I like it - I think there are a lot of answers that contribute to the conversation and probably just as many that don't. I'd like the opportunity to reward those who put thought into their answers.

It is not a feature that I would use.

The upvote does take time and is not used selectively but more of a blanket upvote. Some use this all the time, others don't. It doesn't make me feel any different one way or the other.

I take it as a compliment when someone likes one of my blogs or comments.

Who has time for more of this, i was not happy with the upvote thing, prefer to just read the replies in chronological order.

Agreed with Lyn.  The upvote takes care of ranking.  I doubt an "accepted answer" function like on technology blogs would work here, where there is more than one way to skin a cat.  Especially when you are talking about a marketing question versus how to do conditional formatting of an excel spreadsheet.

Love doing the 'upvote' - for the replies to the Post.  And if pertinent and helpful, love writing a reply back.  It would make me feel good to contribute if I could add something or a personal experience, which doesn't necessarily have to validate the question Annette Lawrence , Palm Harbor, FL 727-420-4041.

This is probably the only place on the web where an answer of "I don't Know" can be voted the top rated answer to a question, while the real answer gets no votes. But then, this is the only place where participants are quick to admit they don't know. The points really screww things up.

I would love it, it rewards good answers and always need a way to get more points. I also things anyone that tyes in "i dont know"  ir "it depends" without ay other advice or answer, should be - 1000
