Lynnea Miller I don't know about any current legislation, but in my County when home prices go up taxes go up. When home prices go down taxes go up.

I sometimes don't & I also can't rely on the stupid Illinois Board of Realtors. OR, they direct us to vote against something that is really not bad.
Right now there is legislation being formed for rent control & they are afraid that it will be taken up in the city of Chicago.

When the day comes that Cali votes away Prop 13 with over 60% renters you can bet the trade off will be huge rental increases.

The Washington Supreme Court ruled the State has a a requirement to fund Education, but the funding is not there. To cure, the Guv wants to impose a Capital Gains tax (we don't have an income tax - how's that going to be Constitutional?); AND he wants to greatly increase the B&O tax on Real Estate Brokers.
For the longest time there was no B&O tax on Real Estate Brokerage Services, as the State gets their tax via the Real Estate Excise Tax at the sale of the property (about 1.78%). We seem to be easy "targets" for this governor.
Between King County in Washington, and Multnomah County in Oregon, I'm not sure which is the worst for this type of monkey business.

Lynnea - I do try and stay on top of any legislation that will impact the real estate industry, both local and national.
By the way, nice job with the interview.

I should look into this more. There is a new regulation in effect for 2017 requiring homes built on or before 1/1/1994 to have water conserving plumbing fixtures. It's more of a disclosure issue rather than stating a point of sale requirement like our earthquake strapping.

GREAT job being on top of your current legislation, Lynnea Miller - for your Oregon homeowners, I do hope they kill both bills. And, yes, you did shine like a star - just as we all knew you would!!

I don't know about any current legislation, but in Northern Virginia when home prices go up taxes go up. When home prices go down for any period they raise the tax rate.. (Never lowering it back as they rebound of course lol)
