You can google my number with dots, dashes or neither.

Periods on my business card but I tend to be more traditional in emailing when citing telephone numbers, using a ( ) and hyphen (123) 456-7890. Guess I really don't have a strong preference

Our business cards and the signature at the bottom of my blog are periods. I think it is cleaner and easier to read. But I noticed that within actual blog posts I sometimes inconsistently use dashes. I don't often use parentheses.-Kasey

For a non-USA number,  the format will be as per that country.

Example for India (91 being country code) - +91 xxxxx xxxxx.

It would be wise to treat published telephone numbers the same as email addresses. Realize that on some media formats, bots are able to identify and scrape the data. Emails, SS# and telephone number all have a specific format that make them targets.

I would recommend the dot and a space for numbers appearing on line. Unfortunately, some templated websites have  a preformatted tele field making my recommended number two places too long.

123. 456. 7890

It is highly likely the reader will be calling from a mobile device. This opens the possibilities to alternatives to human readable numbers.

Of course there are those who fear clicking a link whose destination they are unsure of. These folks will fear methods that are not human readable also, although much of what they do on line is cloaked from thier view. Go figure.
