I am not a celebrity and have no interest in being one. But I am an expert and I like to believe I'm a "master of my craft." That is what I sell. Frankly I don't think about core values and greater purposes. I do what I do. I'm good at it. People recognize that. They recognize that I'm trustworthy. No time to think about the esoteric stuff at this stage of my life.

When I meet people for the first time, I find a wad of toilet paper stuck to my shoe usually defines the relationship.

The best ice-breaker is a genuine question.

 Ice breaker conversations are always about them.  They can learn about me later.

I'm not now nor have ever been a celebrity.... but I have always been a top networker.... I can always find a common ground with someone and have a conversation.... face to face.... and from that connection, we do business....

I've been in the paper a few times, but I'm no celebrity.  I also don't think Robin Leech is going to do a profile on me any time soon.

I am an expert in many fields, of course I use the legal definition for "Expert Witness" of "knowing more than the average person" to define expert.  I stay humble and recognize that there are those that know WAY more than I do in every one of those fields.

If they're talking RE, then the ice is broken.  Then it's your time to genuinely address their needs.

In our state, there are many "celebrity" agents.  They have appeared in reality shows, etcetera.  One of our first brokerages was run by a woman who wom a "Miss _______" contest and had parts on then current popular TV shows.  In commercial real estate, that held very little value with investors and the market we served, they wanted to know that you knew your numbers and new what you were talking about.

In residential, some like to know that a "celeb" is handling their sale.  Are those celebs experts?  Some are...and I agree with Nina Hollander .  A

Everybody wants to talk about real estate. All you need to do is get face to face and introduce yourself.

I am not a celebrity and don't claim to be one. I am just me though I have been on TV several times and on the radio dozens of times. That doesn't make me famous or better than anyone else.

I feel I am very close to being amaster and do't need some title to survive.

Being an expert is more important than celebrity! Do what you do and do it well. The rest will take care of itself!

Usually the celebrities will delegate your business to be handled by someone else on their team.  If you think you're going to be buddies with the famous person you might be disappointed.

The best way to break the ice with anyone is to be genuine, open, honest to treat them as you would like to be treated yourself as someone that matters. You can accomplish that best by asking easy questions about them and then listening (Really Listening)

I don't have room on my desk for an ice-breaker device but I suppose it works well for some. I still haven't seen this "dime on a desk" story everyone keeps mentioning. ARGH!

You have to be able to explain to each seller why you are the correct agent for them to hire !
