I actually came to Active Rain through a real estate class.  It wasn't a pre-license class - I can't remember what it was, but our teacher told us about Active Rain in that class in like 2007 or 2008.  I think it is good to send them here.  But it seems as though the teacher(s) give the students examples of questions they should ask (since we get so many of the same ones over and over again) and so then, unfortunately, instead of beginning their time on Active Rain actually learning and interacting with professionals, everyone is annoyed by the same question for the umpteeth time and the students get snarky answers and so don't get a true picture of what Active Rain is actually about.  Sending them to Active Rain, Yea. Suggesting they ask the same questions over and over again, Nay. -Kasey

 I am teaching in real estate school and the studnets have so much studying to do to learn the principals, I think it is a disservice to send them to ask the same questions over and over and a waste of time. Most of the questions have no bearing on passing the test.

I just wonder if they are really learning what they need to by asking these questions over and over. They all ask the same questions as opposed to coming up with their own that could better contribute to their learning, But then many of us know that what you are taught i real estate school has very little to do with the business, just getting through the exam

I think the schools that send them should tell them why and teach them how. There are some students who not just ask question but interact, thank those who leave answers and come back when they pass and let us know. Then there is those who dont take time to add a picture, ask something that was just asked a couple of days ago and we never see again. For those  skip. I am against anyone bashing them as they just dont know. 

I am fine with it. Statistically, most won't make it through the first year but if we can help a few learn, grow, and perhaps become quality agents then I am a-ok with the barrage of questions. Heck, some established Rainers ask the same things over and over again too. ;-)

Fred Griffin - It is a good idea to introduce them to ActiveRain - however, forcing them to ask those questions again and again....

Sometimes I pass on these questions. Some I answer. The students would benefit from AR if the spent more time on here or at least communicate other than just asking a question.

I am skipping more and more of them...They just take up time that these teachers should be doing

The repetitive questions can be annoying but it provides an opportunity to hone my snarky nature.   Seriously, it would be great if their instructor gave them an ActiveRain project where they interact, share and learn.

Fred Griffin I think it is a good idea to get an outside opinion. Unfortunately the students are asking the same questions over and over. It appears most are asking these questions as a homework assignment just to get them over with and turn them in for credit.

I don't think it is the correct reason for being here personally. I also don't think they realize they ask the same questions over & over. That in turn makes us snarky as we see the same things.

If Topical GROUPS were still functioning , it might be more viable for them

I don't have a problem with it, though I do get tired of the repetitious questions.

I think a much better idea would be to send them here, not to post the same questions, but to research the answers to questions. Complete with footnotes/sources!

Ben needs to sell his stuff to newbies. So far, it a win, win for Ben.

The instructor is providing EXCELLENT guidance.

The student however, is skittish and fearful of being exposed, through their impression of what real estate agents are, for what they do not know. As a community we should make it clear if they don't respond, no furhter engagement will be evident. Then it becomes a win/win for the communtiy.

The better question is "What are your thoughts of professionals lacking the capacity to skip questions posted by students?"

Depends on the questions. Sometimes the questions are arcane.

I think its good, but wish they didn't ask simply basic questions they should be learning in class.

If they would just read and absorb information and then write their own "papers" on what they've learned, I'm all for it. The way it's happening now is more idiotic than anything else... same questions all the time, badly phrased, I'm not sure they even know what they are asking or why, or that many even care about the answers.

Introduction to Activerain is awesome. Asking same questions, not so much. They should teach them to be more interactive and ask more day to day practical experience questions.

Yea, if they stay to learn after they get their license.

I think they just want opinion from pros to give the teachers a different point of view.

It is a way for them to interject into the real estate industry.

If we can discourage even 1 of those mindless unengaged anonymous question askers from following through and becoming an agent, then it will all have been worth it.

...and for the intelligent, soon-to-be agents who are genuinely interested in learning and contributing, they are a welcomed addition

I don't mind.  I would love to see less repetitive questions, but hopefully they are learning from the comments.

I agree with Debbie Reynolds, they are doing their students a disservice. The students need to learn what their State has to say about these questions, not someone's opinion on a real estate social media website. 

Plus, as a member of ActiveRain, it's kind of annoying to see the same questions posted over and over.

I am not a fan.  Too many asking the same questions. It grows tiresome. As for the referral ... HA ... unlikely that would every happen due to the annoyance of all the repeated questions.   

I would think it is great IF they taught proper and effective interaction skills.  

I suspect the passing rate for licensing from online school is questionable. Most questions are dated. The law changes. Many sign up because of low cost.

I see you saw the question yesterday where they stated their school name!  Agent Professor or something like that.  :)

My Broker suggested I lurk in the Q&A section once in a while to learn what people do and most of my early questions (mass email spamming software, newsletters, etc.) were all for problems I was working on.  Somehow I got hooked on answering questions and now I'm at 700k points not even 1.5 years later!

I'm all for students coming in and participating, just not for asking the same 10 questions over and over and over again!  I did see a nice blog from one of the students yesterday on dual agency.  That kind of interaction, where they actually contribute, I like.  I read the blog and left a very nice, long and detailed comment.  Not the usual snark the questions get.

I would prefer that they encourage blogging by the students.
