I did get such a request once Jeff Dowler - I was highly recommended by a past client to one of his co-workers.  That was not enough ... they wanted to talk with three of my past clients.  I was wildly uncomfortable asking my clients to speak with them.  I did it and I was hired. Today I would pass on working with anyone who wants to speak to my clients. I respect their privacy.

No but every once in awhile someone slips in this question & I have to tell them I'll get it to them right away. Don't carry those #'s with me but clients are always glad to help.

I have never had a potential client ask for references. They have asked to see sales over the last year, but that's about it.

I've not had anyone ask me for references, but I would be happy to provide them with permission from my customers, of course!

I have a 10+ page document with testimonials from past clients which I hand out to both prospective buyers and sellers. Testimonials are also available on my website. As a result, I've never had a prospective client ask me if they can call one of my past clients.
