Some clients are better with certain forms of communication than others. That being said to explain something I prefer to use prerecorded videos that explain processes and what to expect. Emails are good for fairly brief reminders, texts are fast but more awkward for some and a phone call is the best way to interact.

We have a discussion on their preferred contact method and how often they would like updates. I find most want text messages, but email is also common. Even for leads that aren't clients yet text seem to be the best way to get replies and built a relationship.

Depends on the client.  I prefer email, but when I have a client that doesn't I can adjust and respect that.  I have had clients with no computer or smart phone, while it's a challenge it's not like I can make them get one.

I usually ask my clients what is the best way to communicate and how late into the evening will a call/text be acceptable.

I find most clients will prefer email or text unless it would take more than a few sentences to communicate a message -- then a phone call would be best.
