They probably have their own agents already. At those price points, they don't pay commission in percentages.

Jack,
Why only Aspen? There are more billionaires than in Aspen in other markets in the US. Go for it!

The agents in Aspen are pretty territorial, and won't let us City agents invade on their area either.

You have to ask that question yourself. If you want to do something , do not wait, go for it. Here in Los Angeles we have many rich people too, but it does not mean everyone can get multimillion listing or a buyer.

I suspect it is because of your location being a thousand miles away and not being licensed in that state. Am I right?

Ahh, keep in mind the more lucrative the market, the more cutthroat the competition. Doing mortgages in Delaware was a cake walk compared to doing mortgages in the higher priced larger marketplaces of SoCal and the Bay area. In Aspen, there's a lot of competition for real estate sales. Even in the less affluent markets in ski-area Colorado, there's a real estate brokerage on every corner.

IT appears they have succeeded in their shared goal.
TO buy a piece of the mountain then keep everyone else OFF the mountain.
Very similar to coastal Florida. Big money buys the big water views and the rest of their time is spend keeping everyone else off their beach. How do the do that? By making all the parking disappear.
That is how the 1% works.

Because they're not selling on an open market. Many of those are behind the scenes transactions.

I ask myself that same thing many times. You need to look at where the average house price is higher, like in San Francisco.
