Not expensive for me, I have a van with a chuckwagon kitchen in the back, quick and cheap camping wherever I land.

I have a condo at the beach and it is affordable.

 Updating my answer:   this is a steal for 300 feet from the beach in California!

If it is close to an ocean which has a salt water issue rusting a lot of things, it can be expensive. We are just having to replace an 8 year old AC because of it.

It will certainly depend on what you want or need but there are options.

We have a mobile home park right on the beach in Malibu.  Probably the most expensive mobile home park in the state!  Paradise Cove.

Hi John --- that's quite a project and the long term land lease certainly enhances its appeal.   

You wouldn't catch me dead living in a place like this just to be on the beach even when renovated.
