I suspect you're really asking would we skip Mother's Day to finalize a contract on a million dollar home, since the Title companies are closed on Sundays. With 24 hours in a day, there is always a way to do both. One never has to "skip" anything if it is a priority.

There are no emergencies in Real Estate. I have an offer in negotiation on a home in that range and it will wait until Monday, as agreed by both parties!

John
Like Candice A. Donofrio said cannot close on Sundays...and if you could I would follow Fred Griffin 's advice. There was on occasion when I picked up Ro's mom at LAX, because she diecided to come home earlier. I had an appointment with just enough time to get to the signing. She was delighted to come along, and was very gracious and stayed in the background. A

Depends on what you mean by skipping? There are 365 days in the year to celebrate anything that you want. Today is not the only day...
This morning I spent 4 hours at a dog agility seminar and it was great. I came home all worn out and then checked out my cards from the kids.

I agree with Carol Williams just because there are two things for that day doesn't mean you couldn't do both I don't remember either a contract ratification or mother's day requiring a full day John Peak

I doubt 'sealing the deal' would take all day or even half a day or even more than an hour.
Many important details are left out of your question such as initial showing on Mothers Day. Showing is not related to 'sealing a deal' because you don't know what the outcome will be.
To summarize, a good 'potty break' is all that needed. The agent that can't pull that off won't close the deal anyway.

Of course. My mom isn't stupid enough to wrap our relationship into a single day. And she lives three states away.

There are enough hours in the day to do both - takes an hour to attend a Closing and I spent at least that on AR today!

Closings don't take all day; can have a double celebration later!
PS - we are an attorney state and those guys don't work on Sundays, nor do banks for wire transfers. I know your Q was hypothetical.

I would show the house and close the deal and make time for my family because I'm a great multi tasker.
142,796
2,818,727
I don't see why that would be necessary as there are 24 hrs in a day. I would definitely spend some time w/ my mom (and always have, except when I lived in half way across the country). Also, a million dollar home is not that unusual here.
1,538,904
No. Out here homes only close on weekdays and we aren't involved beyond getting the keys to the buyer's agent... which a title rep can do for us.
