No but you could see this coming from a mile away. We agents supported them by buying into LEADS and thus giving them the economic legs to keep on. Then upstream came along and we could withhold our listings. This was simply inevnitable. They have no model except for a somewhat questionale price evaluation model. Consumers, however, love them. Next step is "restraint of trade" suit from Zillow against NAR.

If you look at the details it is something that is not going to work. How many sellers are willing to discount their proprrty to attract a site unseen investor? Then the investor has to come up with a 9% fee to z. This just proves how little z knows about selling real estate.

Way too late. (our own franchises are the ones responsible)
The paste can not be put back in the tube.
Agents, be prepared, changes are coming and you won't like them you are not paying attention.
Investors subscribing to services like Offer-Pad IS making a difference here.

Love these guys. Wasn't aware of the petition. And NAR is useless, even though I'm a member, just to get access to Supra boxes.

I'll check it out. But I never have any hope that NAR will really do what's right by those of us who pay them our dues.

Unless Zillow is found guilty of operating as a Real Estate Broker without a license (a felony in Florida), neither NAR nor anyone else is going to stop them.

Unless you can do something to change it (which you probably can't) learn to adapt to survive. The real estate industry is constantly changing and evolving.

That would be a waste of time and is not the responsibility of NAR.

We all need to work against third party real estate sites not just Z and we need to FORCE NRA to do what they are supposed to be doing. Protecting our industry and consumers not just lining their pockets with our dues and then selling us out.

Yes I have signed this petitition . I also ask agents who pay Zillow for leads why ?? They look at me and say for LEADS . When I answer why not blog or spend the money on a website instead they look at me like I have 3 heads and blow me off . The Zillow problem also begins with agents that pay for these ads and encourage their buyers and sellers to say how wonderful they are right there at the settlement tables .They say don't forget to give me a great review on Zillow let's do it now .

Interesting, and you have to be 'approved' to buy through it.
I cannot imagine sending them a check from escrow, that just sounds funny.
How about Bugs Bunny too, let's send him a check.

I doubt NAR can or will do anything and I have little love or respect for random petitions (change.org for example doesn't actually do anything). They seem hell bent on selling us out. Only a member of them because the local association forces it on us. Not even sure the FTC would allow NAR to fight Zillow... all those pesky anti-trust laws. Will check it out though.

No. NAR is too busy making ridiculously insulting TV ads to promote Realtors!

NAR tried to stop Zillow in the past and it lead to a big settlement win for Zillow on antitrust issues.

I didn't know about this. I'll check it out. I don't mean to be a debbie downer, but I don't know that it will do any good. -Kasey

In CA if the broker is not a member, realtors do not have to join nar or be a paid nark member.....

No. NAR is going to do or not do what they want and they don't care whether agents like it or not. I'm not interested in signing useless petitions.
