With that many wild cats around the bunnies and song birds will be sparse.

You never know what you may find in a hoarder's home.

I have heard it happening but not for a couple of years. I would take them to a shelter that I know of. One agent in my office got a free dog around 10 years ago when someone left a puppy in a condo.

Oh, that breaks my heart. How could someone leave those babies behind?

Just happened last week, a cat locked in a rear stair way and the tenants all moved out. I opened the door and the cat tried attacking me. Ran back up the stairs. I left the door open to no avail and called the tenant and said i was calling the police, they came back luckily. 

I have not run into this and glad I haven't. Was it an REO?

Yes and it's always cats and one tortoise so far.

One house had an outdoor multistory cat condo so unclaimed felines had a place to get away from the coyotes.

Poor little kitties.  HOw mean for someone to run off and leave them.  

Yes, a persian was abandoned in Baton Rouge at an eviction and left in a kitchen cabinet. My wife and I got her mother to adopt and all is well. Sad.

I found 4 kittens at a HUD home.  Being a retired veterinarian technician, I could not leave them there so I took them home.  They were dehydrated and covered in fleas. Luckily,  I found them great homes and kept 1 kitten for myself.

I had a horse left behind in poor condition about 15 years ago

At one of these abandoned homes a truck was dumped and I saw a bunch of chickens fend themselves including a hen in the back of a truck laying eggs.

I have not run into this (yet).  I hope the cats all get a good home.

No I haven't and it's a good thing, for I'd probably adopt them all.

Yes, a few times.  Not much you can do except find a willing neighbor or animal control or late nature take it's course.

Haven't run into that, thankfully, but know some others who have. Seems like it was a much bigger issue during the recession.

Sadly, yes.   Found a dog in the back yard starving and without water and the homeowners had moved out.  Was showing the home, and called animal control.

Poor things. I hope, they got into no-kill place. It is sad when homeowners leave their pets behind:((

It tugs at my heart beyond measure. I certainly hope the shelter is no kill.

Was in a vacant home 3 years ago and 4 dogs where on their last leg, call animal control, 2 did not make it, but one did and got adopted,  How come anyone do that.

Yes. The worst was a cat abandoned in an apartment for two weeks. Fortunately, it knocked a bag of food off the dryer and split it open. It also had water from the toilet. Unfortunately, it did not have a litter box.
