Regardless of who you are, never ignore your instincts or gut feeling but also take precautions like only meeting customers (especially first timers) in the office, leaving a copy of their ID and a showing list at the office, and have a procedure in place for calling help or backup when things get  rough. Always think safety first.

Yes, I trust mine. I was in an elevator with a few people, someone introduced me to a man and could not shake his hand. A short while later, he got caught telling lies about his travels and job history. He was fired for emulating other people's lives through the stories they told him. He was a fake and a huge fraud! BTW, I do carry a weapon of choice as well!

There's a great book I read a long time called The Gift of Fear.  It is all about trusting your gut.

You are always going to be suspicious for a reason.  The person may not mean you harm, but they are likely lying to you about something if your gut is screaming at you.   I remember once not wanting to meet a strange couple at a house.  Had them meet me in the office.  Found out the man had been lying about his reasons to want to see the home.  When I made a copy of his license I saw that he next door and was posing as a buyer to get a peek since we weren't doing open houses.

We had a similar creep here a couple of years ago Jeff Pearl and it was surprising how long it took for any action to be taken after he was reported by a couple of female agents to the police.

BTW, North Dakota was the 1st State to make Real Estate agent safety a required course.
