I don't pursue renters but they "find" me and depending on circumstances/situations I "work" the lease market. More for landlords versus tenants though.
The percentage of renters who I have worked with who have become "owners" is relatively small but I can cite a couple of examples who became repeat clients.
It's always about asking questions...and careful listening. While not a signifcant part of my business, I find there are some valid reasons for me to carefully consider representing leases as part of my business.

Because my boys (native Charlotteans) are millennials, I get a lot of their friends and my friends'/clients' adult children who have been renting since they graduated college and started their first jobs. They comprise about 10% of my business and I absolutely love working with them!
As for people I have put in rentals - I refer them to a friend who is a property manager if their dream home isn't available when they are ready to buy. He puts them in a rental and we continue our home search until they find something. They probably make up another 10% of my business.

Not a lot, but I have had renters end up buying through my company. Small group though.

A very small percentage as most of my clients are repeat customers and we are moving up to a larger home or down to a smaller one.

It is a very small percent since I only do my rentals and rarely show others companies. Maybe 5% of my total sales.

I was just talking to one of my tenants tonight about looking at homes in the near future, and have another couple of renters who will be looking in about a year.

Zero & it's been many years. That old addage 'they will eventually buy' is so old & crusty. Many cannot or do not want to buy & I can respect that if they tell me that.
Even tenants don't use the agent they rented with for finding another rental.

Roughly 40% of my buyers were renting when I met/meet them. 60% is move up, downsize, second home and investing.

I found it difficult to convert many renters, as our Property Mngmt was very Pro-Landlord !

I don't work with renters so that percentage is virtually nil. There is always some portion of my business where first time buyers who've been renting buy a home from me. The percentage can vary from year to year.

When I first started out in real estate, I worked with many renters, many of whom eventually became buyers and then years later, sellers. Full disclosure: that was in 2004/2005, when the market was insanely hot and everyone was jumping in, but renters did get my career off to a huge start. And many renters referred buyers and sellers to me, as well.

Honestly, not many. Usually I I helped renting to students, people with bad credit after a short sale, or those who just sold their property and decided to rent for a few years. ( for full disclosure I do not market my service to renters, those clients only referrals or repeat clients, and usually I represent a landlord).

Not many for me personally. I do have friends that work leases and will continue to market to the renters. The agents are there 1st on the renters mind when they are ready.

10 - 15% of my business is typically first time buyers, and generally they are renters before buying.

About 20% of high tech technocrats currently renting are looking to buy. I am willing to work with them if they have at least 20-25% downpayment. Many are non-sense die hard must have to have a home in their twenties. In our area SFH median price is $1,200,000 and town homes are $750,000.00 not in the best area. Many of the renters from out of the area have a home or two from their state. They come here to rent in better school districts. No tenants will want to work with property managers or landlords wanting to buy a home. They do it discreetly. Shh....

Recent former renters: grad student who had rented for many years; his parents gifted him some $$$ to buy his first house.
Recent landlords: I did a Starker Exchange for a friend who sold several townhouses, then bought a vacation house with the proceeds. Also, the house I listed today has been rented for the past 5 years... that owner may also do a 1031 with the money.

Had a renter call me today looking for someone in CA to help. $10,000 per month. Don;t have anyone will to take them. I find that amazing quite honestly. Someone will help them or maybe they will do it on their own and again we are distancing the public away from Realtor services.

REALTORS in Denver mostly do not participate in the rental market. Have had many renters call me off my web site to start their purchase search.

I have one rental where two of the tenants bought. One was with me. I don't track what a buyer's living situation is, just what they buy.

As we said before, unless the renters are renting a high end home, they are not likely to become a buyer. It just does not work that way on a frequent basis. Some renters who are renting a high end home do not necessarily want to buy either. This strategy does not generate enough to be vigorously pursued. A
