I saw some Facebook posts on her disappearance but nothing in recent days. Hoping for her safety.

Personally, it's more about awareness -- and I realize that may not be enough. Our office has had personal safety experts speak to us over the years.

I really do practice personal safety.  I did this before becomming involved in real estate.  We simply cannot be too careful.

Nancy,

The story you shared is vague without reference to the source.  It may or may not have anything to do with real estate.  However, it is important to think of one's safety regardless of your position or job in life.  A

I have practices in place and do not rush out to show property. We meet at the office, get to know each other, I check them out and they check me out. I have other safety measurs in place, too.

Nancy Robinson Ranked #111 by Real Trends/Wall Street Journal I have seen this on social media. Personally, I do not meet strangers at a empty house by myself. Recently started having them pre qualified before meeting at all in the field.  It's so easy to get caught up with a busy schedule and let our guard down. I try to be as careful as possible.

It is so sad that this case has gotten lost in the other Texas disaster going on now. I agree, we should always be aware of our surroundings and meeting strangers alone is not worth any amount of 'hopeful' commission.

I've never done silly things like meeting strangers alone at a home. And I'm always very aware of my surroundings and always lock a door behind me when in a home I'm showing. I never park in a driveway where I can be blocked in. I don't do open houses. It really doesn't take much to maintain a level of safety and in 25 years have never come close to an uncomfortable situation.

So tragic, and we see agents taking risks everyday, they need to go beyond making these safety measures a suggestion and make an office meeting and buyers agency agreement a requirement before a home is shown.

I talk with potential buyer/tenant, ask their name and where they currenlty live.  Then, I ask them to text me their drivers license before scheduling an appt.  If it matches, I usually go.  If not, or if they refuse to text it, I don't go.  If I still feel uneasy upon going, I ask my son/husand to go with me.
