The one I love best is "I had a real estate licens in such and such state many years ago but never practiced." Still doesn't stop them from thinking they know everything!

Been there.  Heard that.  "Fun" is an interesting choice of words.   

  Nod and smile.  Then stick to your guns on price and marketing.

"Fun" isn't really the word I would have used for working with such clients.

Family members are a wonderful source for bad advice.

*sigh* - fortunately not that often - I usually get - my parents want to help me buy the house - *sigh*

All I can say to this is Ugh.

I just visited with a couple in their 90's and she was an agent over 30 years ago Andrew Mooersand obviously she let me know it.  

And I did not have an aunt would be my answer...LOL

Lots of folks "Used to be" and agent.

I hear those and that Uncle Bob is a contractor, Billy Joe is an electrician and his brother is an investment counselor. The talent runs deep in many families and we have to deal with them all with a smile.

Oh . . .  yes . . .  oy!  More fun when that friend or relative is part of the Sales Presentation to the Seller of an Estate, and everyone is asking questions of you, around the kitchen table.  And the friend knows you, because you both live in the same community, and they already have 'a price in mind' that they are sharing with the Seller.  It just snowballs, what can I say Andrew Mooers.

Yes.  "That's nice, but things have changed a bit since then."

Yes, and sometimes they continue to explain that the person in question didn't really sell much or got out for some more lucrative or easier job. Just keep smiling.

It is illegal to practice real estate without costly E&O insurance and laws and contract forms require current version just changed last week.

Yes. I even had a client once tell me he was an agent years ago.  He never once tried to be a know it all ... always deferred to my expertise.  

Been there, done that and it does get old.

Oh yes.  Happens way too often.

Can always be trouble with their advice.

Of course, every single time: my ex, my family member, my neighbor, etc. etc. Every second has or had a RE license. 

Some people think they know everything about everything.

I love the friends or relatives that live elsewhere, but seem to know EVERYTHING about our market!  

it doesn't really bother me when people have family members advising them.  I get it.  

Yes, and it doesn't affect me one bit because I still treat them like everyone else.
