The RIGHT CHARLOTTE REALTOR!

A 6-hour loss of power and a few downed limbs from the wind here in the heart of Charlotte. I know a few still had no power late yesterday due to downed trees but, other than that, we're counting our lucky stars we didn't have another Hugo! And, it's gorgeous and 71º today - can't complain at ALL.

Happy to hear no property damage, Ben! I hope how soon your internet & power are back up and running.

Talquin Electric turned off the power on Sunday and kept it off for 48 hours, even though "Irma" never got anywhere near this place.

Talquin claimed, "Safety".  But the real reason for cutting off power to hundreds of houses here?  The mandatory evacuation and state of emergency will bring them millions of dollars from FEMA.

Being born and raised in South Florida I will say that Hurricane Irma had us all pretty nervous. Thankfully for my close friends and family she turned and we did not get the direct hit that Palm Beach County had been expecting. There are still a lot of people without power and FPL & other power crews are working endlessly on 16 hour shifts covering 24 hour days to get us all back up and running. We are very thankful for the minimal damage that most received her and the hard work that is taking place for clean up! My hope is that the West Coast can survive the aftermath. But I know they will, us Floridian may be crazy but you'd have to be to live where we do! We've got this!

I'm in central Georgia.  Irma left a lot of businesses in downtown Macon without electricity or internet service...ours fortunately was not one of them.  My home in Warner Robins, GA did not lose power at all, we lost our privacy fence and a lot of limbs from our River Birch tree due to the winds.  We were very lucky.

No complaints.

Mike and I were not raised with a golden spoon, so we take things in stride. We have been through many hurricanes.

Lots of limbs down and days of cleanup needed.  Our dock is still underwater and falling apart.  Our yard gate with posts in concrete was knocked down.

We were out of power for 2 days and got internet back today (3 days).   Last time we were 10 days with no services and it was really hot...

I am worn out from sleeping longer, doing nothing and eating crap.  Today I went back to juicing greens and tomorrow I am going back to the gym.

Typically we found that the affluant neighborhoods got power restored the fastest...this time they worked on the working class neighborhoods first...Mike and I figured there must be a politician living among us.

Right after the storm, there was a line one mile long for Mc'Donalds drive thru.  They were not letting anyone inside for fear of a riot for food.  The waffle house was also open with a 2 hour wait.

Today most eateries that have power are open, but I am not going to eat out...I worry about the quality of leftovers they might serve this early.

Most people still do not have power and everyone is looking for ice and a place to charge phones.  We put all frig food in coolers with small frozen water bottles (works better than plain ice), so lost very little food.  Our freezer stayed frozen.

Last bad hurricane was about 13 years ago, so we are good for awhile...hopefully.

Eve

I was one of the more fortunate ones.  Irma came through my side of town and sprinkled us with a little rain.  No power outages.  I did get to spend time with family and friends who evacuated from the south.  I pray that those who endured Irma's wrath are able to recover and get back to normalcy very quickly.
