I personally have a set of Cutco knives myself and love them and have used them for 20 years. But I also would never give knives as a closing gift... it's bad luck. Generally, I don't like to give gifts that can be consumed.... once they've eaten it, they've forgotten about it.

I would never give a gift that I would never 'think' to give someone!
As for the Cutco - I have one that a dear AR Realtor® friend gave me several years ago - we are still very good friends and the knife is still my most-used knife!

Praful,
If you were to give a knife, you always ask them for a penny. That cuts this superstition. I had a good friend give me a great knife, and I gave her a penny..we remained friends. A

There a winery with a bottle Labeled Cat 4. I am unlikely to present that as a closing gift unless conditions were properly set.
A prank gift shop has a 50 Foot hemp rope labeled 'Sink hole recovery system' with instructions to attach one end to mail box and other end around the ankle.
I can see neither of these never becoming the 'go to' closing gift in Florida.

I'm with you on the Cutco Knives or anything else that has my logo plastered all over it. Now, if it is something where my logo is on the back or is not noticeable, that's fine, but as a consumer, no way would I use something with a logo splashed all over it. LOL But that is totally just me and my dislike of things like that.

I can think of a lot of things I would not give. We usually give a gift card that's good at a variety of places.
I had never heard of Cutco knives nor have I seen an agent give them away. It must be a big-city thing.

There is one agent in town that had afghans made for clients with his company name and his name on it. I will never give a personalized afghan throw with my name on it. I wouldn't use it and wouldn't expect my clients to either.

There are a lot of "gifts" out there that one should not give. Strippers (the people, not the wallpaper removal tools), small children and puppies.
What I have given? To a friend who bought w/me a set of color coded cutting boards for (thin ones, went into a sleeve, one for veggies, another for fish, etc..) and a Costco sized bottle of Jack (his favorite drink).

Anything personally engraved with my info or theirs - tacky
I always match the closing gift with the client and I think I am at 100% on success in that department. I listen and learn about them and that is the best way to know what would work best for them and be appreciated.
