I have a "dumb" house. But it loves me and I am good with that!

I have cameras in my home and I can chat with my puppies when I'm at work and see the porch and several directions outside to check on my house. I also have a nest thermostat and that's about as "smart" as I want to my home. Oh and I take the cameras to the inside "off line" when I am home. No hacking and seeing inside my house.

It would appear that I have a very stupid home... I have none of those "toys" and have no interest in them.

Aside from our phones and computers we do not have any Blue-tooth devices in our home and we get our TV from an old fashion antenna up on the roof Inna Ivchenko .

I'm thinking of taking the "smart house' plunge and getting a keyless entry system (that does not involve the garage door opener). Does that count?
I don't want my refrigerator talking to my thermostat, or those Russians and Chinese either.
But when Jeeves the multilingual android is available, that will get my attention. I wonder if Jeeves will have a 'Stand Your Ground' mode?

We have Alexa and love her! We also have Nest for HVAC, cameras and door bell and we have a smart irrigation system (which we can control with our phones and computers).

My home is dumb. I don't want to be connected to the Internet; I don't want others to be able to turn off my refrigerator, or turn on the lights or whatever. And that could totally happen.
I actually don't mind having to walk into a dark home and "gasp" turning on a light. Or putting on the heat or air conditioning and having to wait 15 minutes for the house to warm up or cool off.

We have Marlin, Colt, Smith, Wesson, and Browning, so our home doesn't need to be that smart.

With respect, many of those devices also gather personal information about you, and transmit it to corporate Tech behemoths. That information can be sold to third parties, hacked, stolen, or otherwise compromised.
Thanks, but I don't want a "smart" car or a "smart" house.

It is easier than even to convert a ''dumb house'' in a smart home.
It is so much fun to control your home via your smart phone apps.
Btw, a digital doorbell would make a great closing gift!
( p.s. of course if we were not limited by ridiculously low gift tag).

I love technology, but feel with all the new SMART products available, it would make hacking in very easy. Mine is a dumb house too, but very comfy!

Inna Ivchenko My home is dumb as a rock and is going to stay that way. These are just outlets for hackers to get into your systems.

It is VERY important for me to keep my house as dumb as possible. My door locks, windows, garage door, a/c unit, lights do not need to be vulnerable to hackers. Sorry, but just because something CAN be done, does not mean it SHOULD be done.

My home is smart. I live in it. Smart enough for me. The fewer devices and connections I have in my home ... the happier I am.

More importantly, these things are a window into your home for major companies, creeps, and others. If you value your privacy, you will limit these things in your home because they are watching you!

I'm enjoying Alexa for qick answers, alarms, reading me my messsages, reading a book and plaing some music or other basic tasks. Not into smart home lights and applicances though.

Not very right now; Siri is not that smart. We are looking into a smart Thermostat that could be controlled remotely.

Roomba, Siri (4) and 2 Alexa's. Nobody has to be home to have a conversation.

An weak battery on Smoke detector, Nest etc create more costly service calls than their worth. A low battery on my Fob was the culprit. After putting in a new battery it worked two more days. My Supra Fob acted up again. An agent got inside the home with shackles secured. I went to Association after on the phone trying to remove my Supra off the door. I came back with a huge harden steel metal cutter and George @Silvar said go hit Fob 5X to reinitialize settings. It worked briefly. But later it resets itself to not communicate with lockbox again. What an idiot system! Do you know they used to issue a key to realtor to open the lock box?
