I saw it but, don't do rentals so, I didn't read it. You still need Supra access to gain entry into a lot of rentals; so, unless the Uber driver is hauling a real estate agent or is licensed themselves, I don't see it being anything earth-shattering!

There will always be "pop tart" agents, this is a somewhat natural evolution of the concept. Endre Barath, Jr. makes an excellent point.

Debe Maxwell, CRS is right. Uber drivers shouldn'e be able to gain access to a rental without a real estate license.

I did not read the article but it certainly sounds creative. But with the challenges of seeing properties for rent that have tenants, I wonder how feasbile this really is. And what about the financial side of things? And access?

Sounds like an interesting idea but we don't have Uber in my area. Or many open houses.

This is the link to the article : https://www.inman.com/2017/10/07/uber-for-renters-app-brings-on-demand-apartment-showings-to-nyc/
I did not read it all the way thought, but it sound like a Broker is teaming up with Uber so that agents can be found in Uber and customers can hail you for a 25 minute showing. In my market area 10% are vacant and on E-Box to show the remaining 90% have tenants and require 24 hour notice. I dont see it working. For sure out of the box thinking.

Couldn't find it. If Uber wants to drive people around looking at homes from the outside, I don't care. I'm sure many an agent working rentals feels like an uber driver anyways.

Not a big fan of Uber. Not becausethey have never turned a profit, nor their (what I consider) unethical activities, but an interesting concept. I just don't see a market for this service.

I do not see anything wrong with that. It is cheaper to use uber than to pay rental/credit + insurance+ gas + parking.
3,988,013
I have not seen that article but since Uber is not big in our town and most rentals require a licensed agent to unlock and open, I have no worries.

It may work in some locations but not in most. In the Bay Area in California there is a couple of investors that got their licenses and now made an app that allows access to homes for sale and for rent without a Supra. It will not work for every seller of course. In our market - this would not happen and if it ever did, it would be a long time from now.
On the other hand, Ubur is a life saver for me! I love not having to rent cars all the time when I travel. I walk a lot in San Francisco but will get an Uber car back and forth from the airport, etc. I also use Uber in Milwaukee when I visit one of our sons so he does not have to take time off of work to come and pick me up. So much better than taxis, especially in areas like where we are where there are no taxis. One time Nestor was showing propeties and I had to get Tristan to his game to umpire- so for $8 I took Uber with Tristan to the fields and then Nestor got to the game before it was over. So simple and easy!

Hmmm, that means the UBER driver has opportunity to RATE the client, like they do now.
UBER drives picks up obnoxious client, rates accordingly and agents and owners have access to rating.
UBER drives takes person to 15 locations and application submitted for 14.
14 owners take $$ and complete background check only to find out this person can live NOWHERE with other human beings.
Owner updates UBER rating system.
What's not to like? The UBERFICATION of the real estate industry.
Who needs Experian to leak highly personal data.
