I see sign riders with " New Low Price", " Priced Reduced", " Improved Price", etc. I think most people assume " new price" means reduced price.

It depends on where the public is pulling up information. I think when a price change is announced most people assume it's a reduction.

I guess it depends on what medium the public is using. Obviously a sign that simply says "new price" is a mystery. Sometimes a little mystery can be a good thing.

But most MLS and even commericial sites like Zillow or Trulia will indicate whether it is a reduction or increase.

The public is much sophisticated. Use Redfin as an example, it shows how much it was sold for, dates, mls #, each price increase, estimated cost, proability it will sell quickly, and how much more $ the buyer will receive from brokerage using their own agent.

Recent years about 2/3 of homes are priced below market. At first OH they raised the price forcing people to bid up.  I suspect there will be a crack down as it sounds like bait and switch to me.
