The days begins happily & thankful that I didn't burn down the house .......

Nothing new here.  I eat about 4x what I should, and spend time on the couch in a coma watching football and waiting til I feel better.  Then I drink about 4x the amount of wine I should, and sleep in Friday til I feel better.  

This year will be a little different as I'm vacationing for Thanksgiving, so I'll be spending it from the slopes in Breckenridge, CO.

Food, food, more food then watch movies!

Good food and family.

Family & food; then food & family.  If we need an excuse to eat again we go for a long walk in the woods & over the bridge to Grandma's house. Yes, there really is a bridge across the stream in my woods. (I am the Grandma who owns the woods & bridge, too.) 

I only have a Christmas Eve tradition..... none for Thanksgiving....

Hang out with friends and family. Simple.

We have a grand niece whose birthday is on 11/27, so a birthday becomes part of the celebration--not this year.  A

We recently relocated to Chicago,so this will be our second get together. And the new tradition rolls on!

We go to Dim Sum brunch every year but this year we were just invited to the home of my spin class studio owner.

I get up early, start the fryer for the turkey and then start prepping dishes & setting the tables until everyone arrives! It's a crazy, busy day for me and I LOVE IT! 

       We eat out at a nice restaurant.  First seating at 11:00AM, so that everything is fresh.  

Big meals and lots of them! ... with friends and family.. wear all our newest baggy sweaters ;)

For 17 years now, we rent 4 to 6 cabins and have friends come to the mountains  to spend the day with us.

Today's Thanksgiving is different from when I was growing up.  My parents passed years and years ago.  We used to invite everyone who had no family, and had a full house.

It is a day to be with family. My son and husband used to clean the leaves out of the gutters on Thanksgiving morning. We got gutter guard so now we watch the parade and I cook.

Buffet.

None for Thanksgiving ... Every day starts with thankfulness and gratitude. I let people know how much I appreciate them ... in various ways. 

Tradition.

Early Thursday morning, around 4 am I embark on a journey to meet-up with 26,000 of my closest friends to participate in the Turkey Trot 10K.

I present those credentials to stake claim to a slice of that coconut creme pie another intends to claim. Unless they outbid me by showing evidence of a half or full marathon, they need to 'fork it over."

Now that's tradition I can live with, until some emboldened youngster ups the ante.

Lots of food and games with the family, kids playing (hopefully outside), and then home for our first Christmas movie of the year!

Big Bird (Turkey), trimmings, friends and family...

I bring my late, great Uncle Willie's "Cracked Dungeness Crab" marianated in Oil/Vinegar and tons of garlic! I take it to my Brother Shannon's home for our Thanksgiving feast. Obviously California sourdough on the side and for-get-about-it! 

Not much, my family is small. So, nothing too special, only everyone's favorite food( no turkey thing).

The what the who and the where seem to change over my life and they have all been special and important. 

Eat to much, take a long nap

It is considered polite to ask for seconds of which I do not disappoint

It changes from year to year.
