I love red and consider it a power color... so you know what my vote would be.

I like red on a black background better than yellow.

I'm likin' the red.

In logos red usually symbolizes excitement and power.  Yellow is assocaited with optimism and being agreeable.  

Ultimately, it's choosing the color scheme that best represents your brand and its values.

I need to see more than two letters James Hoff , either one could be good or monotonous depending upon how they are used.

On a white background, I like the bright yellow on black for a logo, and the red for the background with white as 'Open', on an arrow (directional part of the sign).  Hope that's not too confusing James Hoff!  

I like the Golden/Yellow ... we use it in our Logo and believe it makes it stand out more!

I'd have to see the logo, but based on this I would pick red.

The yellow stands out in the black background better, but prefer the red everywhere else.

What is this for?  What are you trying to communicate?  Who is your target?

One of the most important and overlooked elements in a logo is "flexibility."  I learned this my 1st year in marketing working with a designer.

So, you need to think about where and how you will use this...including your website.

Is your website going to be black?  BTW, if it is, that's really hard to read.  And, if it's white or some other color, how will this logo look.

So hard for me to answer.

BTW, this logo is very plain and ordinary.  Looks like it doesn't stand for much and it doesn't communicate anything.

I would not know which to pick, even though we do branding and marketing all over the globe.  I don't have enough information to give you an intelligent answer.  Color has everything to do with branding as well as combination, however, it depends on a myriad of factors.  

I would choose white / yellow ... red seems a bit heavy with the black background

I'm not a fan of a black background.  So my choice would be dependent on what background you choose.

In general I'm not a big fan of red and yellow. I'm a black/white or silver/black combo girl. 

I feel color helps to get seen.  to many signs are bland

I would really like to see the whole logo, but based on what I see, no question, Red wins out. Please tell me that is not your logo!

Hard to say without seeing the entire thing - but if those are my choices, the red for sure!

Red is better. I have a site with a black background, it's difficult to read more than a few minutes with a black slate.  Is the black only for logo and not other uses?

I like them both. I think both do a good job popping off the black background. I’ve always like the red/yellow combo like Annette Lawrence , Palm Harbor, FL 727-420-4041 stated.

Traditionally, yellow is caution and red is danger. Add this to your analysis

I go with yellow X and red Z

Both of these colors are not durable in exterior environments.
