I can both recall being grateful for having my ass kicked, and enjoying the karma of the 'kicker' finding them! 
'Rejection is Protection' . . . also goes for defeat. If indeed there is such a thing. We dodge so many bullets in our lives, while throwing tantrums about what we did not get that we thought we wanted at the time.

Never... but I've kicked a few.

Holy Crap-ola.  Just this week. Fired a contractor.  It was NOT pretty.  He disrespected me. He disrespected my clients. His attitude was horrible. 

Lessons: Associate only with quality people AND we cannot help others that cannot help their self. They have to do the work too!

A small handful of people in my lifetime held me accountable, would not back down, stayed strong so I could see myself. I did and I bless them all

My husband will offer suggestions and I usually appreciate it but would not put it in the wife beating or ass-kicking category which I would not appreciate or put up with.

Martial arts training.  During part of the black belt testing process there was combat.  I took a punch straight to the face, it was not what I expected and me pause but I kicked my attacker's ass regardless and without any downtime.

3 days per month, for the last 18 years. They are my Buffini & Company coaches and a couple associate mentors.

I would have to say my EX WIFE in 2012... she kicked my a$$ in the divorce but guess what!!!! I found happiness!!! So long sucka! LOL

I actually appreciate criticism and ''a$$ kicking'', it makes you want better and try harder. My teen kids are really good in it, they push my buttons all the time:)

I take this question on a positive note...
I worked with a trainer years ago and she worked me hard. Just when I probably would have given up (if I was doing it alone), I saw  the results that I never would have achieved had it not been for her "kick assery" help!

I've never actually thanked the sender BUT .... I will agree that later when you look back, you were being taught a good lesson & you were screaming & kicking about going down the wrong path. Definately a karma thing but I can't say I ever thanked the 'road block'.

This has a sorta AA feel to it about making amends. You go back to that person 'someday' & say 'ya, know, thanks for kicking my ass in 1975'. It took me down a different road.

I business and personal, no one has ever kicked my a**. Hoverever, in business, I kicking everyone's a**es everyday.

I don't remember the last time I got an a$$ kicking... but I've kicked some!!

  Physically?   Only when I was a kid, by authority figures.  Dad used a belt.  Mom used a paddle.  Granddaddy used a rolled-up newspaper.  Rosie (our maid/nanny) used a switch.  I am grateful to all of them.

Getting rejected in real estate is common if you are prospecting. In my case it has been referral all along.
