OH NO! I can only think of 3 and NONE of them are in my database- in fact, I can only think of their first names now - I've even put their last names out of my mind...now to work on forgetting their first names! LOL

I've had maybe have a dozen who were so impossible, I did not put them into my data base.... a few of those I "fired." A couple of them, I completed the transaction but do not stay in touch. At the end of the day, the "beauty" of our business is that we can pick and choose with whom we work.

I totally hear you Tammy Lankford, 'life is too short' to retain that type of client.  To be honest, Roger inputs our clients unto a spreadsheet, and I do not.  He started doing this years before I became a realtor, so he's efficient at it.  My thought is he would input everyone.  I have noticed in couples that one can be difficult, and the other can be very nice (maybe it's like, 'good cop, bad cop', I have no clue!).  And others that are difficult I do not talk to them on the phone, if they call us, but pass that call over to Roger.  Yup . . .  I'm a 'chicken' . . .  <wink! wink!>

The Worst client I ever had...

 ...I was looking for a tall building to throw her from.....

but as time passed I came to discover things unknown. 

She lived in constant excruciation pain from a stomach disease.

She was going blind with less than three years of light left.

She was alone in this life.

A few months later I met a entirely new person.

Surgery fixed the stomach pain and another ended the progression of blindness and she was suddenly a social person.

Sometimes what motivates the behavior of others is unknown to us. Even the woman who listed with me and refused to sell with a full price offer, although a bad client, must deal with her behavior in her own time. 

Yes, I keep them all on my list. 

Should they call, at that time I'll decide whether to send them to an agent on 'the list.'

Agree, that is what I do also. If it was a hassle the 1st time around, why ask for a 2nd?

The WORST clients we have ever had were both real estate agents from out of state who needed to short sale their investment properties here.

I have had a few through the years.  The good thing about maturing as a Realtor is you realize you do not need these "takers" in your life.

You see the red flags and learn who you can help, who you can not. Like an ER triage, help the most and step back politely from those that suck the life out of the ROI. Send them to Country 22 or your friendly competitors down the street. That'll slow them down.

I did not. A few others were eliminated on my 15-year journey. Thankfully most of my clients are a joy to work with. 

I think it's a good idea to forget the forgettables.

There are not many but there are a few that sucked the life out of me and I just cannot afford that.  

There is only one person so far who completed a transaction with me, who I won't contact again. I have no interest in assisting him in the future.

Nope, in any business one needs to decide whom they want to continue doing business with.  My hairdresser works for 2 different salons.  One of the salon has a policy that if customer isn't happy with the hair cut, customer doesn't have to pay. Well, she has one lady who keeps on coming and asks for her.  She (the customer) keeps on saying that this time she (the hairdresser) has to do it right.  Everytime after she's done, the lady customer will complain and then walks away with a free haircut.  Finally my hairdresser quits!  

Everyone is in the db, not everyone gets a Christmas card though.

They're in my database but categorized to reflect my lack of desire to ever interact with them again. ;0

I can't remember the last time we had a client we did not like.  Sure some are more difficult than others, and some are even screwy...

But they are nothing compared to the ignorant and emotional listing agents that we have to deal with.

Yes, but in the S List category so I know to swipe them to voicemail if they call.  Not to keep in touch, but to keep their contact info so I am never blindsided.

Yes. I sold several properties to them.

Yes I keep everybody in my database. This is business. It’s up to them to unsubscribe from my newsletter.

Clients who have been difficult actually keep getting better with subsequent transactions. I just don't "tangle" with them. Hey, this is business, why take it personally? I just protect myself better in those subsequent transactions. I'm the professional, I should be able to deal with it.

I put everyone into my database, but I don't necessarily contact them very often.  If I do get a referral from them and find they are just as difficult I would end our working relationship.

I do the work and move-on as they should too. Each gathers as they go...

If it doesn't work for me you are history! That pretty much goes for all of my "data bases"

I had two clients who were so bad I would run in the other direction if I saw them down in the next block - I would never put them in my data base - it was actually a joy to delete them! 

The worst client ever will go in my data base , it is not about how I feel it is about how they feel. Will help them if asked to do so. 

Everyone goes in the database right from the start. If I don't want to work with them again, they come out! Not worth my sanity!

I too have had very few that did not go into the database after closing.  But definitely can remember a couple!  

There have been a couple of people who did not respect my time or knowledge. They do not go into my database. I want positive energy only in my database.
