The difference between car salesmen and real estate brokers is a Grand Canyon sized chasm. It may not always seem like that, but it is. IMO, replacing car salesmen with robots would be a huge Improvement. In our business, however, we're bound to higher standards. If we did what some car salesmen do, we'd be in jail. Consumers need us.

Could be. There are already robots showing rental properties in Silicon Valley. While I think consumers need us no doubt there are soume who would love buying a home via app. Imagine the security issues.

If you watch the commercials on TV, you might think that. I guess, people could be "buying" real estate like that but then what? It's not an instant transaction like a car deal. Who is guiding them through the process and helping them solve issues that come up?

I don't believe it.
I got new car and worked with 2 dealerships. Not happy with both.
In real estate at the closing our sellers and buyers smile and shake hands!

Somehow buying real estate is very different from buying a car; also a much bigger financial investment.

There are still a few travel agents out there, who cater to some select groups and individuals. The same thing will happen to the real estate industry over the next few years... there will be a dramatic reduction in the number of real estate brokers.

Yes without a doubt...There will always be a need for a licensed coordinator, agent or expediter however but the big money days will definitely dwindle down with exceptions here and there. Being an agent will become less popular thus completing a full start to finish cycle for this industry. My advice? make hay while the sun shines. Hustle and work it while you can

I believe it is Michael and it will be here before we can say lickety split. You'll see a home for sale, pull up the app and let your cryptocurrency do the rest. All you need to do is determine a closing date and reset the Kevo for access.

Well there are certain people and situations that are going to go this way and in fact they already have call on those apps are here.
the majority of people will not: there’s no app for what we do as Realtors
there’s no app that holds hands
there’s no after negotiates
there’s no after problem solves
There’s no app that puts out fires
there’s no app that thinks outside of the box

I believe there still be realtors preparing documents as all states require them.
As for the commission it will be piece meal. Big brokerages (public companies) are offering 1% listing fee and 40% back to customers in most states where they are lawful.

I probably missed that commercial, but sites like autotrader have been around for a while, allowing you to buy a used car w/o a salesperson. I don't know how you'd go about getting a test drive done without a salesperson though. When I bought my car last year, the salesperson was VERY helpful and I wouldn't/couldn't imagine buying the car without him.

NO and only a FOOL would by a car without looking at it. With both you need to see it. You need to check it and you need to research it. Then with homes, you need a real person to answer the personal questions, to be the rock, to guide, teach and negotiate the best deal. MOST important only a real person can keep a deal together given the inspection, the mortgage process and appraiser.
