I was pleasantly surprised to see that active rain tweeted one of my posts a couple of weeks ago.

I don't know that I agree with that... then again, what is the definition of "best" when it comes to posts.

I've noticed my best and worst blogs seldom get read.

I do notice the same. But add in a crazy title. Make the reader want to read through to the end, and you can up views and comments.

IMHO all of my blogs are feature worthy.  LOL . Anyway, wouldn't it be nice to get a 20-25% comment on all of them.  I average 10-15%.  

Sometimes there's a huge luck element.  I've had some I thought would attract more attention than they did.  Perhaps my title should have been different? Or maybe just bad timing, publishing when everyone was busy watching the SOTU address or the national championship bowl game :) 

Yes Bob Crane but what you pick to write about, the timing, who else hit the same topic and saturation can kick in. I think the best blog posts are ones on FAQ. So besides the reception being better where it is a common question topic folks you deal with daily ask a lot, you can use the blog post link in your email educations or to add them one by one to your website as one more resource element. Rather than blog post lost in the recesses of the AR library.

Sadly Bob, that's a reality. A lot to read.... every morning, I have my ritual of speed selective reading due to time constraints.... and often, I'm sorry to miss some great posts...

Based on the content of comments, many of my posts are not completely read. That provides a good reason to post very short blogs.

  Carol Williams has the Second Chance Saturday series for "posts that should have been featured".  Tag her in the comments when you see a great post.

It's always been timing and luck, Bob! Will certainly check your posts out.

every post has a different number of comments.... some of my posts aren't worthy of many comments, but it's what I felt like writing at that moment!!! 

Sometimes yes and sometimes no! The ones that I think are outstanding get the least amount of play. Go figure!

I will say that sometimes I feel I pour an awful lot into a post & then yes, it never gets read that much.  Cest la vie ...

I don't think it's correct blogging ettiquette to ask us to 'rate' your posts here. Your efforts will stand on their merit.

My featured posts certainly got a lot of attention, but I do know what you mean, Bob.

Bob Crane It's kind of like getting a post featured. One you think is really good doesn't get featured and the one you put together quickly does. Go figure!

Makes it more clear why many of us blog. Has little to do with winning acclaim, but acclaim is a wonderful icing on the cake.

When the contests are running I do check in to read them. They are some of the best during the month. I read some of yours too, Bob.

Bob Crane I noticed that some of my blogs receive several comments, other blogs receive no comments.

Nor do they get the gold star that it most times deserves

Our posts usually get quite a bit of exposure and clicks - with limited acknowledgement or engagement (few likes and comments). So I kind of know what you mean... - Tim

I notice they never have viewership anywheres close to what some other people's posts have, even when AR shares them out.
