Old fashioned handshakes is all I know.

A weak, sweaty handshake is a total turn off.  Yuck.  I like a firm, confident handshake, maybe because that's what I give. 

Handshacks within my personal space and those too hard that leave my hand bruised!

I don't like a flimsy handshake, or one that's squeezes too hard and makes dents in my fingers from my rings.  I like a firm handshake, looking the other person in the eye.  That's what kind of handshaker I am... 

The sweaty, weak handshake is a total turn-off, as is the dominant, ring-pinching one! 

I am a 'firm' hand shaker Jeff Dowler.  The only hand shake that bothers me is one where the other person is 'crushing' my hand, as that is painful, and you can tell (I'm sure!) by my face.  Outside of that one turn-off, any hand shake is just fine! 

Depending upon the situation I either just give a nice strong/firm hand-shake or a firm but gentle hand on top of the recipient's hand -- I call it my sincere and caring hand-shake ...  Candice A. Donofrio calls it the Politicians Shake ...

The limp handshake is the worst, like what do you want a kiss on the top of your hand?

Firm, eye contact, and then for the love of God, let go after a second or 3.

I like a confident handshake, to me it's more about the eye contact and greeting, the way their handshake actually is I don't notice as much

I grew up in a country of hand shakers where even small kids learn early on how to properly shake hands. I prefer firm and short, I can't stand limpy hands or the "half hand" shake where you are offered only the finger tips. In those cases, I'd rather refrain. 

It depends on whose hand I am shaking.  And I have learned that certain clergy do not check hands to women.  A

Limp handshakes. Why are so many men "afraid" to give a woman a proper handshake?

I used to teach handshaking as part of my new agent class. I like a firm (not knuckle breaking) full handshake using all the fingers not just the tips.

I think the Chest Bump will be replacing the handshake. Just be careful to not knock anyone over. 

I am not that fussy and am okay with any kind of handshake.

I notice if their hands are extremely cold, maybe because of Erie, PA's cold winter weather. 

During the flu season some people are choosing not to shake hands.

I don't like weak handshakes.  I also don't think fistbumps and high fives are handshakes - although I have had people try to do both at an initial meeting.

A local politican years ago was outside a grocery store meeting people. I actually did want to get to know what she was about, so when she reached out, I went to give her a firm handshake, looked her in the eye, and then she put her limp hand in mine, and said, "hello" as she looked over my shoulder. Blech. I left her and didn't bother getting any information. She gave the impression of not caring about me, therefore, why would I care about her?

PS - she did not get my vote.

What's a flu epidemic i'm seeing a lot more fist pumps and I don't mind that at all

I bump elbows in flu season.

I hesitate a little to grab a hand and I do assess before doing so. If I move forward, I give a full, palm to palm firm with a light shake and 1.1 seconds hold. I am open if the other person adds or takes away or to custom

I am a firm hand-shaker and that is my preference in others. I get the hebegeebees when I get a really weak handshake from someone, especially men (though I know that is not fair). 

Jeff I can remember the day my dad taught me how to shaken hands and the importance of making sure it was a firm one! When I shake a mans limp/weak hand it instantly checks a negative box in my head.

I wish it would evolve to the fist bump-lots less confusing and less germs too!

I usually try to adjust to the one I receive. I also hug people....:)

I am a soft hand shaker and when someone shakes my hand hard..I normally make a comment but a joking one on how hard they squeezed my hand.

My handshake adjusts to the pressure and grip of the person who's hand I'm shaking.

I hate the limp wrist handshake usually reserved for women. My second least favorite is the overly tight grip. 

I am a firm, postive shaker.

Wimpy shakers bother me specially when a woman or man offers me a limp a wrist shake!

One with a firm grip but not a contest one to see who is the strongest.

I have big hands so tend to be careful not to hurt anyone. Like the firm old fashioned handshake.

I think it matters. Can't stand limp, sweaty handshakes... There are also those who grab you by the elbow with the other hand.  Worst yet, the kissers that you just or recently met...

Turn Off - the one that nearly breaks my hand.

I prefer a firm grip (not crushing) and a firm shake while looking the person in the eye and saying "Nice to meet you."
