Real estate falls between stocks and bonds in terms of risk. So when the market corrects, some investors will pull money out of the market and convert it to a less volatile investment -- property. In that sense, it's actually good for us. Endre is quite correct.

Praful if you remember the last time the stock market went down hill i.e.: the Tech Stock melt down... it fueled Real Estate... all the buyers ran from having their money in stocks and moved to a safe haven Real Estate...but clearly you forgot...Endre
p.s.: hence it is good for Real Estate

No fears or concerns - I think it's a natural correction that is taking place and think things will soon level out again.

it recovered in 2008 and will recover again. And actually its not that bad of news to hit us. It just means that the economy is doing well.

Not too worried. Have notice a slight slow down, but since it is the middle of our winter season this is normal down swing.

Should be a well overdue correction. The economy looks strong and I don't think we will go the recession route anytime soon.

We were due for a correction. It's come up a bit this morning. And I'm sitting in a home inspection for a $600,000 listing of mine, cash buyers and they aren't worried at all.

When will we stop sensationalizing the natural peaks and valleys of any market? Stocks, Real Estate, Bonds, etc. We were here before, we'll be here again-enjoy the middle and prepare for the "bookends". The only people that panic are the fail to planners. It's a non-event for those of us creating our own economy, working on a budget and paying attention to trends.

Praful Thakkar I don't think a correction in the market will affect the real estate market. It might help if investors pulling out their money decide to put it into real estate.

No, the increase in interest rates will be the slow down. The last increase, i saw every buyer leaning all jump in the market. It has slowed for January and time will tell if spring brings the buyers back. I am thinking the market will recover for those in it for the long run

A high percentage of home buyers are not investing in the stock market.
Smart consumers are taking advantage of the low mortgage interest rates that will surely be rising.

After eight months of all advisers saying the stocks are overvalued, it amazes me that this adjustment is even news. Another 4,000 points of adjustment are needed to get the values closer to reality.
Beginning of the end of 'fairy tale land' maybe. Ride it out. If you got in 3 years ago, you will still be in the money when this shakes out.

I think we'll have a good spring market. Some people may feel Real Estate is a better investment than the stock market and go that route. It's hard to say.

Real estate hot market in Charlotte has been around for at least three years. Stock market has been hot for one year. Fundamentals underlying the real estate market are supply and demand... if that doesn't change to a whole lot more supply markets will stay hot. And is it possible that those who pull out of the stock market might put their money intro real estate? I don't have fears or concerns.
