What sports are very popular in your area? In mine, soccer is huge. We also have sponsored a softball team, with jerseys branded with our company name and logo.
You just have to find out what other people think is happening in your community and align yourself with it. It can be great fun too!

YOUTH sports!  Great way to connect with your community members, show support AND have some fun.  My local softball teams gets waters bottles with labels that say "Agent Brenda" is my favorite and they get freeze pops after every game sponsored by yours truly.  Little buck for lot of bang.

Purchase a sign to hang on the outfield fence at the local little league complexes. Of course if that sign contains only your name number and broker you will find it a complete waste of money.

Do not buy ads in programs and certainly not stadium cushion. 

School sports teams are always looking for sponsors to purchase their team shirts. Contact your local youth sports organizations & see when their seasons start. 

Little league baseball is a good local team to support through sponsorship. Ice hockey teams too. Soap box derby car racing is something fun for kids and their sponsor, the team support around the stock, superstock or master downhill project.

I support youth sports, girls softball and local baseball. Teams can be 300 to 500 for the season and gets your name out. 

I don't know about your market; however, here it would be little league baseball.

Something you're most passionate about and would participate in. There's an agent here who advertises at the hockey games. One would assume she gets her ROI as I'm sure it is expensive. I hear she's a big hockey fan. Some agents/lenders market their company at the Durham Bulls baseball games. Some people stick with running as that's where their personal interest lies. I wonder how many people actually do this and get a good return on investment. 

I sponsored a little league team a couple of times. Once, a parent of a player who was an agent spent time in the stands soliciting. The other times I gained business.

I would support a team for networking rather than for branding.

Not something I usually do, but I would think a children's softball league, or soccer club.

Bowling, Little League baseball, soccer, lacrosse. Sports that you would enjoy watching or participating in.  

I always had a banner at the ice hockey rink.... family members are there for the kids practice sessions and games.... anything to do with kids and sports.... I have full page ads in programs for each sport at the high school for boys and girls athletics....

I've sponsored the local basketball teams before (where my boys attended school and played ball there). Other than that, I have no recommendations.

I have not ever branded with a local team.

We tend to sponsor ball teams in the schools and get good mileage from that. It makes us feel good too.

I'd suggest, check Buffini & Company system - Margaret also works by referrals.
