1989, I was 20 years old.
Seller financing 12% if memory serves, I know for sure it was double digits.

1973. It was my 21st birthday present to myself. It was an assumption and I think the rate was 8%.

I didn't want roommates and wanted stability, so I bought an older condo in my area. My interest rate was 8.25%, and that was a great deal at the time.

1978, the interest rate was about 9.75%. We thought it was a good deal. Rates shot up after that.

2005. 6.875% and we were stoked. We refinanced into a 15 year about three years later at 4.5% and we were giddy, went out to dinner to celebrate. Then the next couple of years 30 year fixed went far below 4.5% :-) -K

Long ago... and it was a coop in NYC on Park Avenue... all-cash building... no financing allowed. So no interest rate.

I don't remember but my second house in 1980 or so was an adjustable rate with a 6 point cap starting at 14.78%. My business loan was 22%, 2 points over prime.

William Piotrowski - it was pretty late - in 2001. At 7% then and re-fied several times since then.

1977 and my rate was a whopping 4.25%! I paid $41,500 with 10% down and owc 2nd. The seller wanted us to cooperate with his exchange so we delayed closing but he allowed us to move in. NEVER let this happen to YOUR seller. EVERYTHING started to break and he ended up fixing way too much stuff. I found a real cuties in our historical area downtown but it was $43,000 and World Savings told me I was maxed out at the $41,500!!
