Homes.com is not an IDX provider in the truest sense of the word, if you ask me...it's a real estate portal that sells leads.

I can't speak to IDXs since I don't run them, but the Homes.com leads are not worth it. Don't get me wrong, setup your profile and get that backlink, but the public isn't there like they are on realtor and zillow.
Interestingly enough, they do have a Q&A section that the public asks questions on. I was quite active there for a while.

Nina Hollander said it, Homes.com is not an IDX provider, it's a consumer portal selling you leads. There so many real great IDX provider vendors. Start with your MLS provider, they probably have an app for your website. And there are others suggested in the comments.

Gary Eberhart afternoon to you Sir. Stay away from the H company. It takes at least 3 days after you upload a listing into your local MLS to show up in the H site. Stay away far away from this company.

There is not just one correct answer. There are many websites that can be created to do just about anything you want done. IDX is just one piece of an overall website strategy. Our mls is pushing xactsite if you want to compare. http://www.darrenkipfer.com/pages/xacts-447865

I have only ever used one, iHomefinder, so my view is narrow. I can tell you it supports secure sites and it does everything I need. More importantly, consumers can do the searches they want which is really what having the capability is all about to begin with.

I used Diverse Solutions IDX years ago for a site that I built for a client. I have seen some reviews saying they have gone downhill. They were acquire by - then sold by - Zillow over the past several years. Not sure if all of the transitions impacted their service level.

Homes.com is not IDX, it is a website provider. They like to tell you that you can use their "IDX" on your website, which is nothing more than a widget that will not produce any results. Homes used to be a big player on the SEO field, however, they decided to do a link farm with their users, many of those customers did not even know that their sites were being put into the link farm. This is a huge SEO no no, that will result in a penalty. They were hit with a google slap around the same time Jc Penny's was for doing the same thing basically.
One of my clients who bought her own brand domain ( name of her company which she owned) , could not figure out why her website was not in the SERPS> After we did an analysis we discovered she had over 1 MILLION links pointing to her site from this link farm way after that whole thing happened. She was NOT EVEN with homes at that time. But what most people fail to realize is that the links follow your domain so even though she had not been with them for years, the negative SEO followed her domain. We had to pay someone to manually create all the disavow links, and I sent homes in her behalf a demand letter to remove those links. They tried to deny their activity but I kept pushing, and she hired an attorney and finally they removed almost 500,000 of the links. The rest we told Google to disavow.
So all because of that long story there, I will never do business with them.
And I had another agent client who was told when I build her website that homes could be her IDX. Not true. They were not truthful with her about what their widget could do, etc. None of the pages would be on her domain.
I use IDX Broker. I know that Corinne and Debe are switching to Showcase IDX. You can evaluate them each to see which one you want to use. I would not recommend any others.

There are an endless stream of website providers for real estate many OFFER or include IDX. I am by no means an expert there are many here that are much better at producing online leads. So listen to Anita Clark Ken Jones, ASA, SCGREA, CRES Katerina Gasset and others who KNOW
