You have to view the people that come into your business like a card game.  For the most part, you can play every hand.  Sometimes they make up a great hand, but usually, you are dealt a hand you can play.   Every once and a while you are dealt a bad card - then you have the ability to discard it or continue to play the game - every once and a while you will be dealt a Joker - I've occasionally tossed them back into the pile.  Just like you can't change the numbers on a card - you can't change the people.

You can never change a person. And one thing I've always followed in my business is that I can choose whom I do or don't work with. So when I encounter issues I don't ever consider them problems to attack. Challenges to overcome, maybe...

I hear you. Some days, I feel like I earned my psychology degree. And other times my psychiatry degree.

I am flexible and adaptable, and I can train a client when needed.

I focus on getting the job I was hired to do and don't let drama get in the way.

Navigating through the different personalities should be taught in school

I am not in the business to change people just situations. The best part of this job is if we don't want to work with certainly personalities we can refer them. 

  Let's buy or sell your house first.   If we get to be friends during the process, then maybe we can share our personal lives.

I take it on a case by case basis...you are not going to change a person so not point in trying and I usually have a good sense of whether we will work well together during the initial contact. If it becomes problematic, I refer it out.

You can please some of the people some of the time...

Nope on the changes part. Just work with what you have. I remember working with a guy in car financing that used the F word to describe everying both good & bad that happened. Hey, it's the way he was & I was selling him a house not marrying him.

Haha! Well. As they said in the swingin' 60s, I'm okay, you're okay. Even if you happen to be a raving lunatic. As long as we just stick to the facts in evidence, you won't get to see that I'm a raving lunatic too. 😈

Seriously, it takes a good degree of dispassion to navigate these waters at times.
It's a challenge, because our hearts go out to people.

you can't change people....  you can work with them and sway them and compromise and hope they hell it all closes....

I believe that sometimes we have to be chameleons...we can't change them but, we can adapt to their needs very easily. 

We do have to work with many types of transactions!

I try to react.

I never try to change anyone. But we change if we get into new environment. Most of my friends try yoga and start paying attention on what they eat. As for clients, we often become friends. I do not push, I educate people and they make decision what is best for them. 

I deal with issues and resolve them.  It is IMPOSSIBLE to change others. I can only change me.

I do not try to change anyone. Every client has received the best advice that I have been able to provide.

I just try to keep everyone focused and moving towards the finish line. Some days it requires a lot of hand holding and empathy. We deal with this every day, but our clients are making life changing decisions and the stress can be overwhelming at times. I have a great deal of patience and try to be as understanding as possible as I guide them through the process.
