The RIGHT CHARLOTTE REALTOR!

Oh gosh yes! About 7 years ago, I walked into a dealership, prepared to plunk down $65K in cash for a new car. Although the over-the-top salesy flash was there, I overlooked that. The car salesman was engaging the first couple of minutes but, then kept taking calls on his cell phone - personal calls.

I'm quite patient but, just could not get past his incessant phone conversations so, I politely left.

I'm SO thankful that I did because I saved about $25K, buying a newer car (not quite a year old) with under 5K miles with all of the bells & whistles from a dealer in Iowa! The dealer couldn't have been more attentive and even had the car & title delivered the following week with an agreement that I would wire the funds as soon as I checked out the car & was pleased with it.

Until this past week, I've done nothing but, maintenance on the car - it's been a dream and as crazy as it seems to buy a car from across the country, I WILL be buying another car from that salesman in Iowa!

Car salesman.  I showed him the car I want.  I had researched it, rented one from Avis for a couple of weeks, my mind was made up.

     The sales guy starts in:

"You don't want to buy THAT car... let me you show THIS amazing new vehicle, the technology is incredible!"

"No, I specifically came for THAT car."

"Sure, Chief, but let me tell you first about the technology of THIS car!"

"I don't want technology, I want a long wheelbase and a powerful engine; I want THAT car".

"I hear you, but THIS car has features..."

Me:  "'Wait a minute, my phone is buzzing.  Hello?  Now?  Sure, I will be right there'.  'Sorry, Sales Guy, I gotta run, I'll be back later'".

No my phone was not really buzzing.  I just wanted to leave.  I bought a car from another dealer.

Most sales people use ego bravado and pushiness to overcome their insecurities which doesn't work. That's a yes. I'm super sweet to deal with too. I really am. But if you start treating me like a dumb girl you're done. And I can smell your fear. LMAO

Yesterday, I showed an "owner-agent" home...she was home.  She started the "sell" before we even got through the front door...about the vip that lived next door and what she sold in the neighborhood etc.  Brag, Brag, Brag.

As we went into the kitchen, she said the kitchen was brand new...cough, cough.  The counter top was new granite. However the cabinets were OLD. It was chipped laminate with loose handles...I bet it was at least 10 years old.

When we started to leave, she cornered the buyers to ask how they liked her house...in the car one buyer commented that she would never buy that house because of the agents "hard sell"...

Oh my goodness, yes. About 12 years ago we had an insurance guy come to our home (invited) to go over insurance with us. We were literally going to buy it and he did everything wrong. I honestly can't remember all the details anymore because it was so long ago, but we sent him away and were bummed because we actually wanted to buy the insurance. Also, solicitors who call - I'm generally pretty generous because I know they are doing their job, but if someone can't waiver from their 'learned' pitch and just talk to me, answer my questions, respect my time, or send me material I can go over at a later date to think about it, generally it doesn't go over well.

Over the years we have learned a lot about how to go about our personal "sales" business by the things that turn us off as consumers. -Kasey

Countless times. Funny when you are in a business that relies on sales it is so easy to get turned off by a pushy or incompetent salesperson. I could cite numerous instances, but I will just use this one.

Less than 1 hour ago the carpet installers left my house. They did a good job. But before choosing the company that did my install I shopped around to several other companies. We almost went with another company, but I just could not get past the BS that the salesperson was giving me regarding the sale and installation. She had the product I wanted, but I didn't buy from her. In the end, I am happier with my choice.

Absolutely! In fact you are thinking while the 'pitch' is going on that the guy is so lame it's painful. I've usually decided to already buy the product so most of what he thinks is interesting is boring me to tears.

Case in point for a video email service (???), guy shows me the most 3rd grade videos that people are sending to their clients for referrals. We were on a dual screen presentation & here's me with my hand holding up my face, eyes rolling & no smile on what was supposed to be a joke.

A few years ago I wanted a new luxury car that had to be ordered, went to a dealership nearby and meet with the "top" salesman with his many trophies and plaques filling his office. I made it clear what I wanted, but for some reason he kept pushing me to buy a used vehicle, that I didn't want, I left.

Sometime later I was in NYC and seen a local luxury car dealer ad in a magazine, I called and within a few minutes I had a deal, I paid for the car in full without ever visiting the dealer. The car arrived in my home state several months later, I was very pleased with that purchase.

I told a car salesman to watch me as I left his lot and bought from his neighbor-competitor once.

More or less the same company, but I stormed off Toyota and purchased at Lexus and then drove the car through the jerks lot.

He was a motor-mouth that would not listen, didn't ask me any questions nor did he shut up.

You have to do that once, buy in spite. (Kept the car for 4 year too).

Absolutely, and regularly.

On the reverse side, My son's father-in-law was a regular customer of a local dealer and had recently purchased another new car. My son later asked about a car there, got a price he didn't like and walked out. His father-in-law reamed the dealer and my son was taken care of in the end, all unbeknown to me. I'd been researching a new model and coincidental ended up at the same dealer. I gave the my name, the sales manager looked at me, and gave me the best price I'd gotten so far for this car. I bought it and  didn't find out "the rest of the story" until later...

I went into "Best Buy" once to purchase a rock-bottom computer for my sister-in-law. Nothing fancy. Little bit of word processing, internet and email. I find a very reasonably priced desktop and ask a very young sales person if she'd give me a hand. Now this was a just out of or possibly Senior year Highschool kid. VERY little retail experience. But "Best Buy" had her trained. She immediately tried to steer me to a more expensive desktop. I told her I didn't have a need for the extra features. She said o.k. and I said I'll take this bare bones computer. She then asked me if I'd like to purchase a protection plan. I said no to this. She then looked at me and said, "Do you realize these are made in China with used parts?". I was stunned. How could such a cute, innocent clerk say such a cynical thing. If I'd bought with the protection plan I bet she NEVER would have said, 'You shouldn't buy this as its made in China with used parts'. First why is "Best Buy" marketing computers made with used parts and why is this young girl being asked to make this statement just to sell a protection plan (which was almost the cost of the desktop!).

Yep  A Loan officer. Discussed options and he told me I was really dumb because I didn't want the 1% interest laon that jumped to 8% a few years later.  He told me- Just refinance when you get to that point....

Of course, a few years later, you couldn't refinance because of the downturn in the prices of homes here in So CAL.

I did not use this loan officer and I got my solid 30 year fixed.  no problems.

Absolutely! Looking for weed control service and one service the salesperson was so insulting I just could not work with him at all.  He continued to call me daily sometimes 5 times a day even after telling him I have signed up with another company.  Then his boss called me (on speaker phone) and said he wanted to speak with my husband because I made the wrong decision by not using them for my lawn service.  I told him to never call me again and if he did I would report him.  I blocked his # in my phone.
