As the plot thickens... Open mouth, insert foot.... in the new NAR motto.
The other shoe is about to drop soon according to today's news.

The leadership is very defensive. Where there's smoke there's usually fire.

Let's just hope this is the beginning of the fall of the NAR.
My sense is that it is all to politically charged.

I'm not forced to be a member.... all I need is access to mls, and I don't need NAR for that....

Thanks for the link... will need to study it after the weekend. I trust nothing from the NAR these days. They think they are transparent... but I think not so much.

That is the strangest looking 'budget' I've ever seen, Lyn...and was this just recently posted? Perhaps after the logo debacle?

Lyn Sims - NAR is a necessary evil.
I just hope the fees don't go up. Rest all can be tackled at a later date.

NAR membership has never been voluntary in the areas where I have been active. No longer a member.

Unbeliveably short sighted comments. During the "Big Short" era certain "alternative" companies had legislators at the National level making extreme noises about regulating brokerage fees, allowing anyone access to our MLS (yes, OUR MLS!). NAR stood up to them and the market collapse did the rest. We had a rent control ordinance thrown at us last year here in Santa Rosa, California and NAR and CAR stepped up big time with huge financial support and advice from other campaigns throughout the nation. The Trial Attorneys Association has a fraction of our membership and charge their members 5 times our dues. They gladly pay as they realize the power of a trade group. We are the largest trade group in the U.S. I just came from our Spring CAR Legislative Day in Sacramento. We had 2,000 members there who marched on the Capitol. We posed for a huge photo shoot in front of the Capitol celebrating 50 years of Fair Housing. We then visited ALL our state legislators. The 2nd biggest group to visit the Capitol has only 400 attendees! We have legislators settle on certain laws with our CAR legislative lobbyists after they see the power organized real estate. If it cost me $500 or $1,000 a year I'd gladly pay it. Quit being so myopic, open your eyes to the reality of the world. Together we are stronger than an individual agent.
