Nope, never say anything like that...but I think I figured it out..
They used the remnant as a height adjustment. The carpet isnt inlaid , rather on top,, and  wedged shape due to the wall width!

And I just know, with unwavering conviction, there exists 6 full pieces of identical tile in the garage or shed.

However, the back story for this house may be that EVERY THRESHOLD in living will be softened if you live here. I imagine the possibility: are there other 'wedges' in this house.

Another point to make, the agent has dictated narrative in which this house will be discussed.  Not the house with the bad roof but the wedge house.
