Did any software come with the camera? If not then I would dump a camera that does not produce a more standard photo format.

Sorry, but no help from me, Praful. I've never even heard of CR2 files! I'm sure someone here will know.

Shouldn't Canon have software to do this? If not, GIMP or PhotoShop.

Praful, isn't there an option on your camera to change your files to jpg files instead of CR2 files?
I change my extensions on my Mac just by changing the file name and that works for the ones that I am trying to change.

Well, looks like the answers are out. Canon must have a converter or doing a Google search for a converter app I was going to suggest.

You have your answer from the many knowledgeable AR members.
For those who own Canon, need to convert formats and/or understand sometimes they need 'vector graphics' I would like to add a few more suggestions.
#1. The Canon camera, does not create ONLY RAW/CR2 files. If one chooses to create files in this format, the camera will simultaneously create jpg or bmp or png files or ALL OF THEM!
#2. Illustrator and PhotoShop are the 'vector' kings in the marketplace. Simply renaming a CR2 file to the appropriate IA or PS extension will allow those programs to open the file. There will be little 'layer' data but it gets the image into a format you can optimize. A displacement map will restore the essential layers.
#3. FREE online file converters will often limit 'colors' or resolution that could make the end result less than satisfactory for printable graphic needs.
There are many paths to a solution. However, without knowing what is intended, the best one can not be known.
I do most of my graphic work with GIMP.
