I just think over the top improvements in odd colors.

The bath remodeled in white marble & red wallpaper with giant gold statues. Price range would be $100K tops.

The kitchen with painted cabinets in odd colors. The same kitchen has new cabinets says the owner like your stupid.  Last example was cabinets in sort of a butter yellow. Orange walls like some fruit explosion took place.

The place I showed that was black & white squares everywhere. It still makes me sick just thinking about it.

hoarding

Hoarding doesn't reduce value a smuch as neglecting maintanance does. Like not replacing rotted wood, letting gutters get clogged and overflow, not installing new shingles when needed. Water damage can cause many problems.

Odors that will never go away, including cigarette smoke, dog urine, fried foods and spicy foods without proper ventilation.

 Bad DIY:  remove a load bearing wall, unpermitted addition, wiring/plumbing not to code, etc.

Environmental destruction:  Toxic chemicals dumped onto the property ("I changed my own oil for years, I poured the used oil into that hole over there").

Cutting down mature hardwood trees that will not grow back in two lifetimes.

Neglected maintenance, including clogged gutters.

Its bad enough when the harm their home's value but when they actually "DISTROY" it that is really awful. Other than that I think Candice A. Donofrio may have a winner or actually a loser I have seen properties that the cream white walls were actually a thick disgusting smoke yellow and the home smelled putrid.
