We heard this morning that we may experience some ill effects from Florence too, Ginger. After living through Hugo, I'm hopeful that Florence isn't as damaging and that it's just wind and rain as you said.

We just got 4.5 inches of rain in last 2 days. Flooding has already started in area, streets flooded and closed, trees and power lines are down, etc and hurricaine Florence hasn't even made landfall yet. Once it hits Carolinas, it will circle over MD, VA, and WV and cause a lot more flooding and damage as winds increase. Virginia's Governor has already issued State of Emergency so National Guard and others can begin preparing to do what will be needed.

There are always consequences - direct or indirect ... I expect nothing directly.  I am an hour drive from the coast. 

No consequences here in ND but I'm happy to say I know many big hearted North Dakotians will be rushing over there to help in any way they can.

Hoping a lot of them will give me a call and start looking for a home in a non hurricane prone place like Wisconsin

In New England, we are watching with interest. I'm sure we'll probably get some rain from it.

The only consequence I can see will be 8' to 10' waves and higher if we make it up to Sebastion inlet.

Some of Houston is still reeling from Hurricane Harvey.  My hope it Florence moves quickly and everyone stays safe.

My brother in law just moved to Charleston, SC  from Las Vegas. He wrote there are no casinos to get discounted buffet for seniors. No place to go at night. People stayed home after dark. Looks like he got company coming as a surprise this Thurs....

Yep, one if them is bound to run into Florida before it's all over. It more likely Florida will get no less than five really good soakings and two big blows before hurricane season is officially closed. That is when the really big ones come.

  I am at a hotel in Myrtle Beach.  They want everyone out by noon tomorrow.   Also, I went to top off my gas tank at about 11:00PM.  Most stations were sold out.  I did find a BP that had gas so my tank is full. 

     Not sure what I will do tomorrow.  I may take my parents over to Charlotte if this hurricane is for real.  If not, I will probably go back to Florida and return here in a few weeks.

Well it looks like there is a chance Atlanta may get the rain but not alot of wind.  So happy I do not live on the coast!

Nope and not really although we had some fall out from Irma last year.  High winds a lot of rain, some trees down.  I live 3 hours from the coast so here we get "related" storms, but not the actual impact from a hurricane.

Lucky we are in the Mile High City of Denver, but worried about a number of rainers in the path of Florence.

I'm along SoCal coast, no hurricanes here.

I am certainly thinking about all the people I know, and others, living in the risk areas and hoping things will be better than predicted. But it's not sounding good.

Glad it went north of Florida but worried about those in harms way.
