I was on the Do Not Call list at home and it ticked me off to no end that people called my home number with sales calls. In fact, we finally unplugged the phones for that exact reason and we no longer use that number.

I would not do something to someone else that ticks me off when it's done to me.

I don't break the law and all that business will be worth nothing when he pays an enormous fine one day from someone who complains about his calling. And since when is someone who is on a do not call registry a "lead?" This is a cold call and no where near being a lead.

New niche discovered, heard hardly anyone's working in it. I personally wouldn't call anyone I know is on the DNC list. I wish i could say the same for Google Business Plus. They call my cell phone a dozen times a week & I'm on DNC.

Will Hamm, if it's a "lead", then, they gave you their phone number but if you're subscribing to a service that provides you with phone numbers, then it is your responsibility to check to see if they're on the DNC list. If they are, absolutely not, I would not call them. They're on that list for a reason. I personally do not call anyone, even if they're expired, TOM or in my farm unless they contact me and ask to speak with me first.

I do, if the leads are directly derived from the interested party (which I do not see why it would not be)...it would not matter if they're on the do-not-call list. Nothing illegal or unethical about it.

In short: Do-Not-Call lists...Do-Not-Matter, if it's a real lead!

it's playing with fire. If a broker heard about it, I am sure they would take action, as it is a risk to the business. The fines are huge.

Brave and focused agents will call anyone.

Those who say this does not result in business are those who don't do it.

How did that lead come to you? 

I think the way the number finds its way to you is your answer. If they initiate the business then I believe you are good. I would potentially even go a step further with a mutual acquaintance gave you the information & number and informed the lead you would be reaching out to them, then you may be borderline there. 

Picking up a phonebook and calling people for business would be a no.

Great timing on this question Will Hamm, as it came up this past Tuesday in our Weekly Staff Meeting.  We are not encouraged to use the 'Do Not Call List', and were informed that soon people may get fined for doing so.  It seems in the past, that List was not referred to and folks made calls to anyone.
