Yes, we invested in several REIT's listed on the NYSE and NASDAQ.  There is a wide variety of sectors to choose from:  medical, pipelines, oil/gas, commercial, income, office, warehouse real estate, etc.  They pay very generous dividends but you need to monitor them closely and make sure you set stop sell orders to avoid large losses if/when the market shifts downward.  

Many of the REITs also buy commerical paper and you can imagine the devastating impact when the mortgage crisis imploded in 2008.  They list the assets in the prospectus so pay attention and do your research if you are to tackle this by yourself or with an investment broker.

I have not Dana Hollish Hill although there are a couple here in town. At least one of them is publicly traded. BTW this question was asked (verbatim) last week.

Would I invest, no.  There is a big risk factor, vacancy and it is super expensive to maintain medical office space.  There are lot of safety requirements, electrical issues and plumbing requirements to name a few...even in the newer buildings  A

Yes, I've invested in several REITs over the past 10 years.  In my oppionion it's a great long-term investment. So far my  REIT investments have consistently shown above average returns and outperformed similar non-real estate related trusts and investment vehicles.  So, all in all, my experience investing in REITs has been good.

I have and the only one I invested in has done amazingly well over the years. Invest with an eye to diversification and reposition yourself as your circumstances and goals change.
Never try to adjust to THE MARKET unless you have the knack and the time to make it your life's work you will "GUESS" wrong. If you aren't cut out for do it yourself hire a FEE ONLY financial advisor.
