I have owned and used a Fire HD 7" for a couple of years. It is a really cool little device for under $50. It can be used for email, browsing the internet, as a word processor and it will open pdf files.

But be aware that it is limited to what you can do with this tablet. There is not much memory, the camera is terrible and many of the apps that Amazon offers are sub-par or outdated.

It really shines as a reader if you like to read books. It is great for travel, but not for business.

Until you mentioned tablets, I had no idea what you were talking about. I have a Samsung and rarely use a tablet so not investing any money in new ones. The one I have does the job when I need it.

I've had an iPad and now a Samsung tablet. I really only use it when I travel so I have a larger device to work on but otherwise use my laptop or phone.  Because of this limited usage, it was a price/benefit issue for me when I decided to buy the Samsung and I haven't been disappointed by it.

Had one of the original Kindle readers but no experience with the Amazon tablets.  I just bought a new Samsung Galaxy Tab A for $100. Love that everything syncs with my phone... and if I have issues I can just walk into the local store and get it resolved pronto.
