I am not old, just aged like fine wine! Some days yes and some days just old!

I think 'somebody else'! 😎
I may whip out the 'listen kid I'm old enough to be your granny' on occasion, but it's usually in fun.
I did tell a young snot-nosed astrologer the other day that before she figured out she could do data entry to generate a chart she can't read, I could cast one by hand w fountain pen.
"What's a fountain pen?" Hahaha
I also think it would be better to shine up the attributes of the properties you're marketing to 55+ rather than identify them as a niche. Or, identify them by number the way I just did.

I loved the second half of that video, Andrew! The mindset of the millennials changed drastically when exposed to 'the real world.'
As I've aged, my own mindset has changed as well!

Being 70 years old, I'm technically a "senior." I hate anything calling me a senior, elderly, aged, etc. And I'm not hobbled, frail, or anywhere near almost gone.

Andrew,
My formative years were in a country where the so call "old" people were respected and revered. At a park in Paris about 5 years ago, I remember people of all ages sitting on benches enjoying the fresh air and sunshine of that day. There is no segregation needed or wanted, It is part of the human picture. We hate the concept of retirement homes, or over 55 communities or the old stereotype. A

I'm sure an ad or post would be written entirely differently by someone in their 20's vs 50's.

Words need to be used without any hint of possible discrimination or how they might be interpreted. For example, depending on what you're trying to say, such as "good area for the elderly", those with children might find it objectionable or discriminatory, discouraging.

I don't know. I would start with asking a Millennial what they think about their label.
No one LIKES labels but EVERYONE wants to be SEEN. I do not think PC is a player in this labeling exercise.

I don't like any of these terms, and I also don't like the generational names and categories for people - Baby Boomers, Millenials, etc. Just market the dang property and don't worry about who should live there. If you have to be 55+ to live there, then just say that and go on about the amenities. We have many of these communities where I live, and so many of my clients move in there, and then call me in a year to sell. They hate living in these communities, and can't wait to move out of "God's waiting room."

Very interesting video! I loved it. I have found so much benefit in aging that I can honestly say I have no desire to be my physically younger self. That's not to say I don't have some physical limitations but those started when I was very young, not as a factor of aging.

The state song of Florida is, "Down with the Old Folks at Home" (aka "Way Down Upon the Suwannee River"). Our state is nicknamed "God's Waiting Room".
If I was marketing to those great people, I would go with the standard Florida terms like "Active Community" and "Thriving in Place".

Retirement is a choice and being jealous of your time when you do because aquaintenaces will tell you how you should do it, what volunteering you should be taking on, etc. But you the retired have decisions to make at what you love that you are going to plan your life around with the freed up time the 40+ hours used to tap into called work. Thank you for all the comments!
3,168,134
I don't use those words even to target that niche. I say things like... "one level home, wide hallways and doorways, Master on main, close to medical facilities etc.) People know they are older and what they need. They figure it out.

Every day I get a little closer to being one of these folks, what is the proper term these days?
1,325,924
Age has helped me to gain the wisdom not to use words when targeting buyers that would border on discrimination. Adult communities are defined by laws. If you are not selling in a community that fits the legal description, be careful of what you say and write.

In Florida 55+ communities are getting youger people. It is getting to be real 55+, not 75+. :)
