I remember a suitcase full of money that was immediately whisked away! And a few hours later there was a settlement. And a year later the FBI and the IRS had some questions to which I turned over all my notes. The buyer did not stay in that home but was transferred to THE BIG HOUSE

A Tallahassee Broker had a cash buyer come to her office about an hour prior to closing.  He had a briefcase with $900,000 cash.

The Broker called the Tallahassee Police Department.  Not to report the guy, but for an escort with the Buyer, back to his bank where he had withdrawn the money.  The Title Company would only accept wired funds or a cashier's check, not $900K in cash.

The police sent a squad car, the broker and buyer followed in her vehicle.  Buyer exchanged the $$$ for a cashier's check.

Our escrow companies will not accept cash, unless it comes from a bank. If those baby jars filled with cash were first deposted in a bank and from there, a cashier's check was produced, we would be fine.

I've never had a buyer bring cash to a closing.  I represented a buyer and the seller was upset because it was a cash deal; however, the title company would only issue him a check or wire him the funds.

These sound like movie scripts... I have never experienced anything like these - my cash deals have all been wire transfers or certified bank check.  The eventful part is the 'passing of the keys' - when tears, hugs and well wishes are shared!

Never any cash, cash sales! Just cash that was wired. In NYC we occasionally had Russians who wanted to bring cash in briefcases... the answer was always no... you just knew this was a form of laundering money.

Cash sales with real cash are not happening these days. Too many deposit rules. No title company I know accepts cash any longer.

The "all cash" transactions I have been involved with in real estate have been rather "hum-drum" in comparison. That's okay.

Yeah. Mr Infowars does not believe in Banks. Closed his deal with $155,000 in Cs. Escrow officer and bank manager met him at the escrow company's bank to fill out the paperwork, tender the funds and issue receipt. And then we closed. 😎

PS remember the question about Slydial? He was one of the ones that I absolutely HAD to use it with.

Once sold a home to a 94 year old investor who insisted on buying the home for sentimental reasons (it had been her first flip back in the 40's) .

Came to closing with a card table and a box of cash.  We spent a lot of time counting all that cash.

And then when I brought it to the bank they freaked out a bit and proceeded to ask me a million questions about where I got so much cash.

I have never had a "real" cash transaction. Only "legal" cashiers checks and wires. Escrow companies will not take "green" cash. Too many rules due to money laundering and other illegal activities.

My sister's in laws bought a building around 1950 in gold bars. Unfortunately, it was not regulated and the seller was just a property manager.  He fled.

The Court House sale only accepted certified cheques. No exceptions. 1 1 MIl, a few 100K, 10Ks etc.

For centuries people have hid their money and there is no new hiding places either. Caves, buried, under trees, mountains, Forrest's, backyards, roads, rocks, and well...turn to anything and their is something buried there at some point or still is....

Andrew Mooers | 207.532.6573 I once sold 2 new homes (next door to each other) to a Chinese man who owned 2 restaurants; one for he and his wife, the other for his workers.

At closing, he brought in a brown paper bag that looked like it might be his lunch.

However, when it came time to make the final payment, he opened the bag, turned it upside down, and out came neat little packets of $100 bills in wrapped stacks of $1,000 each.

Now, THAT was a stunner.
